So discs with jailbreak folders on them are definately out of the question, since it checks for the specific sectors on the disc that come from the ISO? Well that's kinda annoying since some games are less than 25GB and I fill the rest of the BD disc with other stuff.

Isn't there a solution possible with a dummy ISO that redirect to the PS3_GAME?

Probably it will work if you use PS3VOLUME label for the disc and if the game has official updates. Otherwise you have to use specific tool (genps3iso v2) to create an ISO to burn to disc.

Nope, they do not have PS3VOLUME as disc label. What does it differ then from USB drives with a GAMES folder on them which already work for years in Multiman (even nowadays in NTFS)?

It is just something that wasn't possible before - nothing more nothing less. Also you can pop a disc at any time and play any game without dealing with usb drives, ftp, copying to internal, etc.

A possible solution would be making a GAMES folder on your disc media and putting JB games and ISOs in there? I don't know if the disc is checked for that though but it could probably be added easily if there was seen to be a use for it @deank?

Of course this solution would only allow discs with JB folders/ISOs on them to be ran. Wouldn't be for auto mounting, the games would still need to be mounted the usual way.

Wasn't this possible with discBOOT? It's earlier mentioned in this topic but I don't spot the difference / technical differences.
    Hope you can explain.

Putting ISO files on a disc is really weird. I do it because Multiman can mount them as DVD movie discs playable in XMB but rather have everything in native folder format.

You can't mount a game in ISO from the BD drive.

The difference with discBOOT is that it was firmware dependent, didn't work if you update the game and required a PC to create a pkg.

discBOOT only worked on 3.55 and some people speculated that it only worked for DVD games and not BD. Don't know if that is true. I tried discBOOT with several games burned to BD and it did not boot, only gave a black screen and/or 80010017 error's. I even resigned it to higher firmware's and did not work.

How does this Cobra change needs updates (or what Checcolino80 showed)?

Does it only work if the game is updated or not?

So I hope this method is more stable for all games. Hope the Rebug team issues an update.

This method doesn't require updates. Please read the messages in the thread again. And you can't simply resign a tool for higher fw version. It required new patches for lv1 and lv2. After all it was me who created discBOOT.

And if I were you, I would not really count on an update from Rebug Team in the near future.

Joonie could always prove me wrong but as there are currently various things being developed & more to come, I believe the team will wait a little to see how this all goes & bring any changes all at once.
After all, we should not expect a Rebug update everytime some changes are to be included in Cobra or whatever.

Interesting development. I'm curious, does this require IRD files?

BTW: Updating REBUG with a +200mb PUP release for a small Cobra patch seems like overkill, must be some smarter way to do that. Peek and poke in RAM?

It doesn't require IRD or any KEY files, but also the disc must be unencrypted (no RAW sector 1:1 BD game copies), although I may add encrypted disc support for 1:1 copies.

Perhaps 1:1 encrypted would be good considering CFW stealth?

Was thinking along the lines of having something like Habib DB (Dual Boot) "OFW" which only have ECDSA patches to allow being overwritten by CFW including this hack allowing encrypted 1:1 from burned disc, giving the user a really clean way of playing copy/backup discs online with minor risk of getting banned.

Just speculating here, feel free to punch holes in my reasoning.

Yoou do not need to use storage_ext.c unless you're a developer. All you have to do is put stage2.bin in /dev_blind/sys using your prefered game manager. Remember, it is only compatible with @habib's cex cfw 4.81 v1.02 cobra 7.5

Make sure you are using the right stage2.bin file or you will soft brick your system...
Take special care if you are using a nand console...!!

c files are source code files, they are not compiled & can only be used by developers. A c file is basically a text file!
