    Noob here amigos! (clear warning) : - )

    Finally decided to downgrade my PS3. Attaching some pics. for your reference.

    Please confirm before I head down this rabbit hole;

    1) There is no software only route to downgrade, right?

    2) For my version of P3 slim, the best & easiest way to downgrade would be to use this Teensy guide, correct?

    My hope following the downgrade is to JB my PS3, install Homebrew & then run my backup games.

    Thank you for this awesome forum & the equally awesome help.

    Hold on there.What firmware are you on? A downgrade isnt needed to jailbreak anymore.Unless of course you are on 4.83 instead of 4.82.

    1. Yes there is a software way to download as long as you are on 4.82 or lower.

    2. You will need teensy or e3 flasher if you are on 4.83

    If your on 4.60,you need to update to 4.82 ofw from a usb and then hex flash it using the tools for nor (since its a 2000 slim) on ps3xploit.com.Once you flash your consoles hex file,you can update to rebug cfw from 4.82 ofw.

    Ok, understood.

    Step 1: USB update PS3 from 4.60 to 4.82.
    Step 2: Follow this PS3Xploit tutorial.

    Question please: where can I download 4.82 from? :rolleyes:

    I googled...and there is just too many fake "PUP" (zipped) files out there with passwords that make you fill out those fake surveys. :confused:

    Appreciate it.

    I'm back amigos! And with some news! ;)

    I think we are in business! Thanks to your guidance! :victorious: (checkout screenshot)

    And just as a precaution, I saved 3 Flash dumps prior to flashing the "flash_482".

    Questions please;

    1) Which CFW would you recommend?

    2) Where can I download it from?

    3) How do I flash it?

    Appreciate all the help again, folks. You guys rock! :loyal:

    Install cfw from USB the same way you installed OFW 4.82. I recommend Rebug 4.82.2 REX which you should get fron the official site = http://Rebug.me

    Appreciate the help guys....

    But, I think I kinda screwed up some where.... :(

    So, I did not reboot the PS3 after the "flash_482". And just downloaded; REBUG 4.82.1 REX EDITION (screenshot attached).

    1) I copied the CFW "PUP" to the USB drive.
    2) Verified the MD5 was valid with the MD5 checker.
    3) Renamed the CFW PUP to "PS3UPDAT.PUP".
    4) Plugged the USB to the PS3 & then selected to update (screenshot attached).

    For the longest while, it was stuck on "Please wait...." and then when I tried to cancel it , it is now stuck on "Cancelling.... Please wait". (screenshot attached).

    I don't want to pull the power to force a reboot b/c that could be a disaster.

    What can I do now? And where did I mess up? :(

    Please help.

    Not much else you can do except reboot anyway, no other way out of a crash like that (Try hold the power button first, if that doesn't work you will have to pull the power cord), don't worry too much, the ps3 copies the pup to the hdd first, and I think you will be fine. Worst case you will have to enter safe mode to install it after.

    BTW: You should get 4.82.2, its newer.

    Yeah once you flash the hex file,your supposed to do a full reboot first,otherwise you get stuck on please wait since the hex still needs to apply to the console first from a reboot,the console still thought it had the old hex file when it didnt.

    Now that your on 4.82.2,you can switch to dex mode and edit your idps if you want to get online,or use sen enabler.

    ok, that just went over my head! o_O Could you please start me from step 1? :(

    I've been trying to learn how to solve the "get backup games to the PS3 & play" scenario. And so far, this post has been my only guide.

    I've learnt that;

    1) I need to get FTP going on the PS3 (I can figure this out through more research)
    2) Create a folder on the PS3 called "PS3ISO" (I am assuming there is File Explorer somewhere in Tools of Rebug to help with that)
    2) Then FTP the iso to the folder in step 2. (I can figure this too once FTP is setup)

    But, some of my backup games are not ISO's though, and are rather in the folder structure with "PS3_GAME" and "PS3_UPDATE". So I am kinda stuck there. :cool: (see screenshot please)

    The other issue is; actually launching the backup game on the PS3 once the FTP is done.

    Maybe I should start a new thread for these issues because this is beyond a "Downgrade".

    Thanks again. :tears of joy:

    1. Rebug toolbox has built in FTP server, whenever you are in the toolbox it is running, so you can connect from filezilla ftp client on your pc, or whatever client you want to use.

    2. you can create the folders required from within the ftp client on your pc, just browse the dev_hdd0 partition, and right click and create directory. Then copy your files over.

    3. for games that are not ISO, but folder rips. you should create a folder called GAMES and put those in there. Another option is to convert your folder rips to ISO on PC first. You can use http://www.psx-place.com/resources/ps3-iso-tools.68/ this for converting if you want to go down that road. ISO is the recommended way to run games these days, folder rips were the old way, it still works though.

    4. Launching games is easy, you just need a backup manager like Multiman, webman, managunz, IRISman etc.
