Have a look at this thread about app_home removal. There are edited xml files to download.

    http://www.psx-place.com/index.php?threads/9859/

Basically to remove app_home in the xmb, you need to remove all the "gamedebug" nodes in both category_game.xml & category_game_tool2.xml.
I suggest you use a file compare utility to see the changes otherwise finding differences & node visualisation is really tricky.

    Hi Guys:

After more than 1 year there is an update to PSNPatch !!!
Yes. it was a lot of time. But the tool is stable and working with every firmware version

Anyway, following some users requests, changes were made to support the PS3 Media Remote in the application and updating the list of "cleanable" CFW syscalls.
So, here it is the first 2017 version !
    :)

    The release notes:

    2017.01/A
    [*] Added support for multiple controller ports including PS3 Media Remote;
[*] Updated syscalls cleaning list to include syscalls 15,200,201,202,203 and 204
The full list of LV2 syscalls disabled by PSNPatch is now: 6,7,8,9,10,11,15,20,35,36,200,201,202,203,204
[*] Includes webman-mod 1.45.07 lite version for cobra and non-cobra systems (for optional installation).

As usual, The download links are in the first post of this thread:

So I've had a CFW PS3 since the very beginning of 3.55 CFW days but never used PSN on it other than on my other PS3 on OFW. It might seem a bit late but I want to use PSN now on it. Is it necessary/recommended to have a spare CID for spoofing when accessing PSN?

I've been using PSNPatch for a very long time but just for my PSN content.

Spoofing Ids is not necessary at all as long as you don't mod games or cheat... If you do mod or cheat then spoof your ids because depending on the game servers you will eventually get banned...

Yeah I don't mod or cheat and don't plan to.

Good to know. So i should mount my game, disable syscalls, access PSN, play?

    Yep. You can either

    1. Mount the game you need, launch psnpatch 2017, use the Triangle button to delete history, disable syscalls etc. Then connect to PSN & play.

    2. Launch psnpatch 2017. Use the button to start the Cobra Toolbox, select psnpatch plugin but keep wMM unselected, apply the settings with the Start button. From now on, on reboot, you should see a psnpatch pop up telling you the plugin is loaded. Mount your game then use the L3+R3+L2 combo to trigger the psnpatch plugin & unload webMAN-MOD. Sign into PSN. Play.
Don't uninstall the psnpatch app even if you only use the plugin!

In both cases, if you wanna change game, reboot & do it all over again.

Thanks for your help. I'm guessing if I spoof my CID/PSID, it would preserve the original without risking it? I think I may just do that as well, for extra measure.

I don't play CoD or GTA so I should be a bit safer? I mainly only play single player games, online coop games like Dark Souls, ect. I'll also read the PSNPatch FAQ as well for extra info.

    Thanks for all your help!

If you have spare ids, you only need to edit the cfg file in the psnpatch installation directory. Look for the idps & psid placeholders & input your ids. Save the file.
The psnpatch plugin will spoof the ids it finds in the configuration file automatically...

You can use localhost/cpursx.ps3 in the browser to see your currently used ids...

Just one more question, would you recommend game folders or ISO's for running backups? I've being using folder rips for a while now but just want to be extra safe. Just in case you know?

It's recommended to use iso format for games & the best storage imo is a ntfs external HDD because fat32 requires to split iso files due to the file size limit of 4Gb.
JB folder games are no longer necessary except for game modding or if you cannot run Cobra/Mamba for whatever reason...
