Is it possible to i.e. remove the video category (containing Netflix) and replacing it with a tools section. Further more could it have the same function as the game category, where one could sort apps by folders?

And most importantly, could it be made permanent, so it sticks after reboot?

Yes, you could modify the TV Category the same like I did with the network category in this mod:

No, you can only have albums in the game category afaik.
Yes, any mods you do to the category xmls will remain after a reboot.

how do you mean? albums are recorded in the indexer. if none exist, the indexer uses the content's category to separate content.

Yes, you can just modify the category in the param.sfo.

So basically if I replace the video category with a Tools category, I could then install and sort my managers and apps in that column instead of the game category?

Yep, you could even make a couple of hardcoded subfolders, then you can make it so photo apps appear in one, video apps in another, music apps in another, and tv etc.

Then you can edit the param.sfo of your homebrew to suit the 4 folders. Only works if you are not using any photo, video or music apps already, as they will all move.

    Sweet. :)

Gonna start researching the subject right away.
Never attempted anything like this before and have zero knowledge, but hey, you gotta start somewhere. :D
