    Trophy Points:

Following the release of 4.84.1 REX a new update has been made by Team Rebug with the release of 4.82.4 REBUG REX (& D-REX) with the inclusion of COBRA v8.1 that we seen debut in @Joonie's latest PASTA (DEX) COBRA CFW. This update also corrects a long-standing bug (7 years) that resided in Rebug when trying to install in some region via Recovery Mode. Also PS3Xploit Support has been added (mostly for developer use), these features in REBUG REX and various fixes/changes can be seen below. Along with an overview of features REBUG REX can offer

    • What’s new since 4.84.1 REX/D-REX?
      • Installation issue fix (This has been bugged for the past 7 years due to missing the license agreement for 3 languages including English[UK], Brazilian Portuguese and Turkish. Certain users used to have a problem installing REBUG while on recovery mode, and this is finally resolved!) *no more data corruption error!*
      • Font fix: (some old games that use system font now display all letters correctly, Polish letter fix is removed due to this change )
      • PS3Xploit support: (The old webkit is brought back to allow PS3Xploit support, HAN can be used)
      • REBUG TOOLBOX 2.03.02 MULTI 16 (PS2 Emu swapper’s removed as this became obsolete since Cobra 8.1)
      • Cobra 8.1 (Enabled by Default) source available via this link (Stage0 now supports kernel & VSH plugin on both Cobra and non-Cobra mode, loadoptical flag(for BC and SemiBC) is created at all time as long as stage2 is disabled, this is only beneficial to BC/Semi-BC users for those who don’t use COBRA) More information available via this link

      • FEATURE – Dual LV2 Kernels CEX/DEX (Swap your EID0/LV2 kernel using Rebug Toolbox in seconds)
      • FEATURE – ALL Retail functions available in CEX mode (No need to install different firmware)

Folder rips are NOT compatible with PSNPatch’s stealth mode due to its ability to disable COBRA’s disc-less feature for folder JB rips****

well i have a strange problem (maybe solved with the latest version) when am going on the psn, no probllem to download the games, but when finished, nothing appear on the game section (to install it) the only way i found so far is to shut down the system by checking "'shut down after download", the installation is done just before shuting down the system.

Go check Playstation Network Content that's where things are downloaded for certain contents. (like PSX games)

      Hi guys.

Updated my PS3 to this firmware last week, came from 4.84 OFW --> 4.84 HAN --> 4.84.2 ReBug and sometimes, mostly on PSN games my system hangs, and led is green and blinking a very dim yellow, not ylod. Can it be the HDD, the CFW? Has anybody had this kind of problem.
Also some games makes the system reboot to recovery or reboot on updates, but that already happend before, on other CFW.

checking the hdd isn't to difficult, and you shouldn't lose your data.just insert it on the pc either on internal sata header or via inexpensive usb cable/enclosure/dock and read it's smart properties and other parameters with some good software like hdd sentinel.

also, you can rebuild database in ps3 itself.that essentially defrags the drive and repairs any errors in filesystem that can easily be repaired.

if that doesn't help you should reflash cfw and restore whole system.that should start you clean and exclude all software problems, but you lose your data.most of the stuff can be backed up and restored but other than save games and vmc's i personally find whole process not worth it,as it's pretty advanced.your mileage may vary.

if that also doesn't help and you still have problems both on a tested hard drive and clean software then it's safe to assume that your ps3 is slowly giving up.easy hardware fixes are psu and changing the caps, but more common symptoms of psu and cap problems are ylod in more demanding games.other than that there's little that can be fixed easily and it's more cost effective and reliable in the long run to simply get either known working motherboard or whole new system.

you should also check your temps, anything beyound 68c on the rsx is actively killing your console, but again common symptoms are ylod in demanding games.

It's been months since I last use my ps3 and I don't remember anything. My version is 4.83 cobra and I'm trying to update because I can't connect to the internet. I downloaded the update but I have no idea how to install it. I don't even remember how to use package manager. How do I update?

      Quick question.
I have a CFW compatible console with OFW 4.82 installed twice in the past.
If I apply exploit 4.82, can I install Rebug 4.84 straight away?
I would like to avoid installing 4.84 OFW twice right now.
I guess it is prossible without any problem, but better safe than sorry.

how to identify which cfw version is currently installed on my ps3 means Standard (CEX) CFW or Cobra CFW or REBUG REX CFW (CEX/DEX firmware hybrid known as REX) or STANDARD (DEX) CFW: etc . And what version should I have installed if I only interested in playing games?
    12. umart666
i think rebug toolbox should give most precise info, but you can check in system update, about in system settings, and in homebrew like multiman.majority of times it will be rebug rex, which is also most commonrecomendation for almost all scenarios of use.if you don't know if and why you need DEX then you don't need it.
    13. Cypher_CG89
If your only bothered about playing game's install REX, it has Cobra in it which adds support for playing games in ISO format and other things. You can only install a DEX CFW if you have converted your retail unit to DEX or are using a DECH DEBUG unit. in which case you would install D-REX on a DEBUG unit anyways.

If your not a Dev or a serial modder then you don't need DEX.

REBUG REX CFWs though will allow you to convert your PS3 to DEX though as I said if you don't need it then there's no point converting and you can just use and enjoy it the way it installs as a CEX Cobra CFW.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask for help but I'm new here... can someone please for the love of all the ps3 jailbreaking gods help me?

I'm trying to get twisted metal 4 to properly work on my system (rebug 4.84.2 cobra 8.1) I combined all the .bin files to a single bin/cue and for some reason the in-game music doesn't work... I've literally tried everything I can think of and searched for days on numerous forums and with no luck... Any sort of advice or solution would be DEEPLY appreciated...thanks.

My Cech2001A PS3 CFW/REBUG Multiman GTA5 w/ Paradise Sprx/Semjases is having problems... Everytime I join GTA5 PS3 ONLINE "Friend or Public" I either get put in the lobby alone or I load into an occupied lobby and everyone leaves and I know the problem is on my end but I'm at a dead end now... Thank You In Advance.

Please don't triple post the same issue in threads that aren't related this derailing the topic at hand. You made your own post now wait to see if anyone can help. We don't really help with mod menus as modding games is a good way to get flagged and banned. Besides it RUINS online gaming for legit users. You will probably get more results where you got the plugin from or NextGenUpdate.

I cant get to install rebug. I have slim cech 3003b. and ive tried every method
    18. pinky
you can't install cfw on 3k systems.
    19. Cypher_CG89
Good luck with that, if you do manage to install it you WILL brick your PS3 as CECH3000 models are non-CFW compatible... for your PS3 model you need to use PS3HEN v2.3.1.
    20. Smrtguy
