    Trophy Points:

Following the release of 4.84.1 REX a new update has been made by Team Rebug with the release of 4.82.4 REBUG REX (& D-REX) with the inclusion of COBRA v8.1 that we seen debut in @Joonie's latest PASTA (DEX) COBRA CFW. This update also corrects a long-standing bug (7 years) that resided in Rebug when trying to install in some region via Recovery Mode. Also PS3Xploit Support has been added (mostly for developer use), these features in REBUG REX and various fixes/changes can be seen below. Along with an overview of features REBUG REX can offer

    • What’s new since 4.84.1 REX/D-REX?
      • Installation issue fix (This has been bugged for the past 7 years due to missing the license agreement for 3 languages including English[UK], Brazilian Portuguese and Turkish. Certain users used to have a problem installing REBUG while on recovery mode, and this is finally resolved!) *no more data corruption error!*
      • Font fix: (some old games that use system font now display all letters correctly, Polish letter fix is removed due to this change )
      • PS3Xploit support: (The old webkit is brought back to allow PS3Xploit support, HAN can be used)
      • REBUG TOOLBOX 2.03.02 MULTI 16 (PS2 Emu swapper’s removed as this became obsolete since Cobra 8.1)
      • Cobra 8.1 (Enabled by Default) source available via this link (Stage0 now supports kernel & VSH plugin on both Cobra and non-Cobra mode, loadoptical flag(for BC and SemiBC) is created at all time as long as stage2 is disabled, this is only beneficial to BC/Semi-BC users for those who don’t use COBRA) More information available via this link

Folder rips are NOT compatible with PSNPatch’s stealth mode due to its ability to disable COBRA’s disc-less feature for folder JB rips****

Thanks that was very helpful, you saved my day, I was wasting time to figure out what's happening.

In order to bring out full XMB retail menus, the rebug toolbox must be switched to the following settings:

selector > system mode -- rebug
      XMB Operation Mode -- retail

The iris or gaia managers are outdated? Any good?

Whenever I want to swith mmcm to multiman mode I should toggle cobra mode off in rebug toolbox and unload webman from memory?

I have the following setup right now:

selector > system mode -- rebug
      XMB Operation Mode -- retail

wemban + mmcm are steady functioning with my 1TB hdd at the moment, no freezes like the SSD. I'll do a backup restore to get back my save games, let's see how the console is doing when the full setup will be completed.
After installing this version Cannot play ps2 games anymore in ps3 slim, only get a black screen and my console freezes even with compatible games. I can play psx games and retrogames just fine, except ps2 titles X_X-

... and ... you're loading these games through...
e.g. multiMAN, webMAN mod, ManaGunZ, etc.
Also version of these loaders might be helpful.
Ok I used to play ps2 titles just fine when i jailbroke my console, but suddenly my system can load anything emulation related: psx, retroarch, mame, etc. But ps2 isos won't boot.

multiMAN (BASE)v04.82.00 : The first app I used to play ps2 ISOS, it worked fine in the past but now I get blackscreen-console freeze
ManaGunZ v1.35 . Worked fine in the past but I get blackscreen-console freeze

PS2 Classics Launcherv1.00: Did every step to make it work with encrypted isos and yet I get a black screen-console freeze. Tried with the webman mod
v1.47.25.6 iso mount, failed; tried to toggle ps2 classics on pressing select+L2+triangle: blackscreen
I Tried to toggle cobra on- off but get the same result everytime. Did a factory reset, reinstalled CFW rebug 4.84.2, switched to CEX QA and DEX. Nothing works. by any chance my ps3 slim got a chip damaged so I cannot run ps2 games anymore?

Have you tryed to check the MD5 of the file ps2_netemu.self ?

You can use this tool to extract the file from the rebug PUP to compare if the MD5 of the ps2_netemu.self matches with yours

^ also some versions are buggy, use the previous working version if you tried a newer version and you get errors.
I checked both files and they match, At this point I don't know what should I do next.

I was using Rebug 4.84.1 since release and the ps2 games worked fine but 4 days ago they simply stopped booting, all the apps I used to boot them are unchanged except webmanmod, then I uninstalled webmanmod completely but didn't helped. After that I updated the console to Rebug 4.84.2 but nothing changed. I even used the last ferrox build but ps2 just won't boot.
both files match, so what's avoiding my ps3 to boot ps2 games, should I replace the entire ps2emu folder with something else?

I would try to replace the hdd

So lately I've been having issues with rebug. I will start playing a game and my system will crash and say that the system cannot run properly or something like that and other times it says that some system settings have become corrupt and need to be reset. I've done both rebuild database and restore file system but it keeps happening randomly. Could this mean my HDD is failing?
    14. sandungas
Yes, it could be a symtom of problems in the hdd, in that case is needed either to try a different hdd or to take the hdd to PC and use some tools to check if is healthy

But before that the approach you should do is to try to "isolate" the problem, there are few things you can try following this concept, but the most obvious is to deactivate cobra (and all plugins incase you use them)

The same applyes to @HUNKSURVIVORX btw, what you should do for the next tests is to use the "PS2 classics" game format as a guinea pig
This game format is pretty much running under official functions

I have had similar problems on REBUG in the past. All I did was re-install REBUG twice in a row, once from the XMB and once from recovery and then added a REbuild database to the end of it.

These issue's led me to install CFW they way I do now everytime I install or re-install one:

Install from XMB then Install from Recovery, once installed twice then reboot back into recovery and rebuild data base.

Already checked the HDD with crystal disk and HDD sentinel, only 500 days of use and 0 issues . I can boot psx iso, ps3 isos, retroarch roms of every single format, but not ps2 isos-encrypted ps2 classic isos, I wonder what's going on .I Tried to boot a ps2 classics compatible game but I got the blackscreen of death. If there is a way to boot a ps2 classics game disabling COBRA can you instruct me how to do it?
      I'll check it out, thanks

you're sure your bd is fine?
My BD works fine otherwise I couldn't play nothing. Tested my CDs, DVDs, and Blu Ray games.

I had this issue on 4.80 REBUG but hopefully this slightly, stupidly long fix I did will work for you as it did for me.

If you read the posts before its only PS2 games that blackcreen, PS3, PSX and others work fine. If it was the BD it wouldn't just be limited to PS2, another user had this issue on Ferrox and it was down to the PS2 emu and not the BD drive.
