The PS3 4.85 CFW landscape is gathering some familiar names after a bit of a slow start after the 4.85 OFW Update, We seen Rebug Lite released last week, Now we have cfw developer @Alexander releasing 4.85 FERROX (COBRA v8.20) Custom Firmware for the PS3 (for models capable of cfw installs). This is an updated version of Alexander's FERROX brand containing all the usual's like XMB MOD installer for extra features like the CyberModding Homebrew Store, while updating to 4.85 and also the latest cobra version 8.20 that debuted on Rebug 4.85 Lite. Checkout the latest details of this release from Cybermodding's @LizZo below

    • Custom Firmware FERROX 4.85 COBRA 8.20
We made you wait so long this time ... But we keep the promises :)
Now you finally have the new CFW from Cybermodding, the FERROX 4.85 !!

The developer @ Alexander this period has been busy not just, but the wait is over.
The 'Perfect Custom Firmware' is updated to version 4.85, including the latest COBRA version, 8.20 . For the rest it is the same CFW that you know, clean and light and with the only Patches needed by the vast majority of users. It is the Custom Firmware most suitable for all those who often go online and do not use the SPRX Mod Menu. Very reminiscent of good old Rogero, clean, functional and safe (as much as possible).

Let's get back to us and see the features of the new FERROX 4.85 COBRA 8.20!

      • Built on the basis of OFW 4.85 S * NY.
      • PSN / SEN Enabled.
      • Possibility of updating from any CFW (CEX).
      • Possibility of updating from OFW 3.55 and original firmware 4.85 [with PS3Xploit - only compatible consoles]
      • Possibility of downgrade from any CFW with active QA Flags.
      • QA Flags active if previously enabled.
      • FEATURE - Added COBRA Patches 8.20
      • FEATURE - New optional XMB look (See FERROX Mod Installer below).
      • FEATURE - PS2 Games Compatibility.
      • FEATURE - PSP Games Compatibility in ISO / Minis / Remaster format.
      • FEATURE - Compatibility with the latest version of ReactPSN.
      • FEATURE - RSOD Screen Bypass for Console affected by RSOD.
      • FEATURE - Keys 4.85 to start Games signed with keys 4.85
      • FEATURE - App_home / PS3_GAME.
      • FEATURE - XMB In-Game Screenshot - find the option in the Photos column of the XMB In-Game.
      • FEATURE - Remote Play support.
      • FEATURE - Integrated Package Manager, replaces the classic Install Package Files.
      • FEATURE - Added Temperature display in XMB In-Game on PS2 Games. Thanks to 3141card.
      • PATCH - LV1: Patched to remove LV2 Protection.
      • PATCH - LV1: Patched the coreOS Hash Check to prevent the Brick on non-dehashed Downgradate Console.
      • PATCH - LV1: Peek & Poke.
      • PATCH - LV2: Peek & Poke.
      • PATCH - PS3 BT Remote Patch.
      • PATCH - PS3 BluRay Disc Patch.
      • PATCH - Disabled Epilepsy Message at Boot.
      • PATCH - CINAVIA protection Completely disabled.

      Optional: Includes XMB Mod installer

Install/Remove included XMB Mods or the CyberModding Homebrew Store

If you like our Cybermodding Homebrew Store, or the Graphic Mods seen in previous FERROX, this Installer is for you. This Installer was created based on the XMBM + Team installer and inside you will find the possibility to install or uninstall the Mod and the Homebrew Store.

The installer was introduced in the Custom Firmware when installing FERROX. This means you will always have it available, without having to use a USB stick. To install the PKG, just go to the Package Manager, and navigate to Install File Package - Internal Storage of the PS3 system. The installer will always be there, but if you want you can delete it via File Manager from the dev_blind / ferrox / pkg directory.

The use is really simple, there is not much to explain.
You can install the Mods, and you can reinstall the original files at any time from the installer. Ditto for the Store.

    Download: 4.85 FERROX Cobra (v8.20)

So the Ferrox noBD is can play your games normaly like it should to be ?

So, I've been trying to use Artemis lately and not only do the cheats not seem to work after attaching them but after a few minutes of play the PS3 shuts off completely into blinking red light mode (80gb Fat). The game I was trying to cheat is a PSN digital game however there were cheats for this game in Artemis so I figured a disc game isn't always required?. A video I watched was saying to make sure Cobra is enabled but isn't Cobra enabled from default in this? Tried to use rebug tools to enable it in case it's not, but it says not compatible or something so I can't manually do it.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Cobra is enableb by default in ferrox

guys, last saturday i went to play fallout 3 and my ps3 stopped, ok i tried restarting it and nothing, i turned it off and on again, on the strength, but it bugged everything, it asked to analyze corrupted data, finished and entered a wait screen and nothing happened, I do not remember but I found a way to connect it like jumping start, so far so good I thought it was just a bug and went to play, hung up and called again and the same bug, I went into despair, I tried all kinds of recovery and nothing, until I realized that I was showing an error message 80010201 and that it didn't connect to the internet, but I thought it must be a "symptom" of the bug, but I started to think it was and maybe the wifi card burned ?, so i searched the internet and found that this bug could be caused by a bug in the system that could have corrupted, so i thought my hypothesis is right, but i tried to format the hd on the pc and nothing, so even today i am here, after I formatted it still calls, but the intro is slow , it bugs in the xmb (as if the control stopped, in games it didn’t happen) I kept the video game and it’s there until today, I don’t know if it’s a bug or if the board really burned, well I don’t know what to do would be a lot of help if someone could help me
Hello guys, i'm super new with Ferrox CFW, can you tell how to activate QA flag in this CFW please?
    7. Mitchyyy
hello, I have currently installed overflow 4.85.1 (CEX) installed on my PS3,
can I install this firmare on my ps3?
    8. Coldheart2236
Install and run this package, you will get a black screen and then be returned to the XMB. See the Release Notes tab for how to verify that the QA flag has been enabled.
      Yes, no problem.

My experience, 80010201 error can occur if the Bluetooth module has a problem or the FAT NAND console has finished downgrading (hardware flasher) but does not enable QA flag (installed using firmware that uses VSH CEX).

      The solution:
      1. Fix if the bluetooth part has a problem.
      2. Enable QA flag or use firmware that uses VSH DEX, such as rebug Rex or D-Rex

Can I install it without a Bluray drive? Mine is broken, and I'm afraid of getting loop, so I wanna know if that "patched blu-ray disc" is a patch for those who don't have a functional blu-ray drive.

Hi, I love this CFW and I'm wondering when we're going to see a 4.86 release for it. No rush, figured out how to spoof PSN but it's nice to be able to use youtube and crunchyroll on my ps3 without running software on my PC to spoof.
    17. Coro
you can use "nopsn" versions without psn access (or spoofing).
    18. uemtux
Having trouble with crunchyroll. I install the package, when I run it it says it needs to update to the latest version, then after downloading and installing latest crunchyroll it asks me to sign in again. I guess the version on NoPSN isn't the latest?
    19. Coro
yeah i think thats the problem...sorry i have not used that one so i didnt know
    20. uemtux
Oh it's no problem, I'm glad to learn about NoPSN anyway
