are logging into PSN and activating system unnecessary if i only use Ps3hen's multiman to rip and play my own legit ps3 game discs?

i read from the tutorial that backing up "act.dat" and activating the console is a required step for if you need to sign PKGs and use certain homebrews, but since i only want to rip my own discs and play them with multiman, does this mean i can skip the step of logging into PSN and activating system?

thanks so much for letting me know!

system activation is for psn content that needs licenses. if you are just gonna use disc based games you don't need to activate your system

yup, i only plan on ripping my own legit discs so i can play them off the internal HDD with multiman, that way i won't have to worry about damaging my collection.

thanks so much for your help
