Hey everybody, I had a hacked PS3 with one of the custom firmwares, I'm not sure which one and my brother accidentally started an update that did not finish. now the system is kind of in a bootloop and says that I have to put in installation media 4.82. is there any way to undo this am I screwed?

Install latest HFW using USB and then proceed to reinstall CFW from there.

Yes, You will need to hack it again starting from scratch basically. Install 4.85 HFW and then you will need to use the flash dumper and writer. Read some tutorials, AND read all the help pages on ps3xploit.com AND watch this

Not sure why you guys get such a buzz outta this :)

It's actually very easy to do. For example I have had recovery mode ignore 4.84 cfw on USB and install 4.50 ofw from bd before, some cfws are not patched to block that

Good news everyone! I simply upgraded hard drive and directly installed newest rebug firmware successfully! The reason this probably worked is because 4.82 update would not complete, therefore it never fully updated. Got multiman on it and everything to work .

Because "accidentally" installing just cant happen. There is always a confirmation before updating.

Depends on situation. There is not in safe mode if coming from a brick. It just starts installing after you press start and select and does not even tell you which pup it is beforehand.

Also kids/family members accidentally update consoles all the time. Just cos there is a confirmation does not mean it's not an accident...

I get your point, its down to the meaning of the word "accidental" I guess, like if you fall over and hit the confirm button is it still an accident, or if you click on yes instead of no, or if you put wrong PUP onto USB stick etc.

Agreed if your not the console owner then it ask for an update people do this not knowing it can cause a headache for the user. My kid has done it before but luckily I had a teensy to reinstall CFW again. This was before we had ps3xploit and was much bigger deal then nowadays.

    Like really who gives a f*^k @ISAK.M .
I always find stuff like this more annoying then anything.

OMFG someone did not know how to do something, as if you have not asked a question here.
I bet i could find some dumb questions you have said as well at some point.. I bet you could find something like that on everyone to be honest at some point.. I know we were all experts day 1 .

Should i go into another thread and say @DeViL303 (just using your name as example;p ) look at this guy :troutslap:..

Shit can happen accidental, an update can occur in many ways and by many people using something.

Man I knew this would happen, cant we have a little bit of fun sometimes. Its all a big fat non-serious joke if you didnt know.:-p Its just that I did a follow up because there is a confirmation in the XMB. ;) Not safemode as @DeViL303 stated. The whole "accidental update" thing wasnt even invented by me. Chill. Forgive me I guess for this supposed bad post. ;)

Whatever about you thinking it's impossible to accidentally update, that's your own definition of the word..fine. I just find it weird that take the piss out of everyone who updates to ofw by mistake. It would similar if I always laughed at YLOD and said "hey @ISAK.M look, another YLOD, LOL. Guess he didn't set his fan control correctly". It just comes across as getting a buzz out of someone else's bad luck.

I understand, it is kinda cruel to joke about someone's bad luck. But at the same time, I wouldnt care if someone joke a little, but not everyones the same so I guess I am going to have to be more careful ;)

That's it, joking a little is fine. It's just when you are calling other members to come and take the piss every time someone does it, it can get a bit much IMO for the user. They came here to get help not to have people having a joke at their expense, that is more the kind of thing you will see on NGU :)

I think what you guys want is people to frame it like this when they post about it. "I fucked up, I am stupid, I updated to OFW by mistake" , and this way people are definitely are not trying to put blame onto anyone else.

Did you just tell me to chill? (not a wise move lol) Okay you can have the weekend off so you can chill :) , now that was a bit of fun :)

The issue here is a thread that is not about the subject but some dumb stuff (not fun but dumb).. Does not matter if it wasn't "invented by you", you came in here derailing threads for something so dumb and to put down someone who had an issue. Just dumb some of the attitudes here. If the OP was a dick or something that is one thing but he was not and it was genuine questions.

I encourage fun but not at trying to have fun by putting down someone. If you pick on people i will pick as you see. If you have not noticed i do not have much of a tolerance for things like this. Then also if you knew this was going to happen that is when you should of thought about it more. Next time discuss it among yourself in Private Messages. Dont use a thread to put down someone and then mention someone else to help you derail the thread and put down someone

I appreciate all mods / developers for sharing knowledge. I knew nothing about CFW PS3Exploit and PS3 hardware and opened many topics, staff was always courteous and helping in replying & solving my issues. @sandungas @atreyu187 @DeViL303 and @pinky have always been helpful.
