Hi Guys. I got myself an RLOD PS3 CECH-C (BC) which I re-flowed and now works absolutely great!

My goal is to have all my games well organized by have them categorized and running directly from XMB, so naturally I started converting my PS2 ISO's to PS2 Classics.

When running ISO's from webman I can use all my USB peripherals since it defaults to PS2_GXEMU when possible, great stuff, love it!
But running them as PS2 classics makes all USB peripherals non recognizable, which indicates that it defaults to PS2_NETEMU.

Q: Are PS2 classics known to only be able to use software emulation via PS2_NETEMU?
@kozarovv Maybe you could shed some light on this?
    Any help appreciated!

Additional note: I can't change PS2 emulator in Rebug toolbox either, it's stuck on 'Original' and if try to use 'Cobra' it prompts a message:
"no ps2emu files found on hdd or usb (dev_usb000)", I'm using the bundled version of toolbox in REBUG 4.82.2 REX EDITION.

Classics work only using ps2_netemu. There is no workaround. Also there is no way to make usb work on netemu.

Hi! I've seen clues of that it might be my problem. One thing that I don't understand is where on the Rebug website I get "full version" of the toolbox, is it this one (1.20MB):
    https://rebug.me/?wpfb_dl=197 ?

In that case it says I've already installed it, I came bundled with Rebug. Anyway thanks for your suggestion!

you'll get that message if the same version or lower is installed. it will error if a higher version is already installed.

The toolbox included with rebug by default is the lite version of the toolbox. the full version has things the lite doesn't. One of these IIRC was the ps2 emulator for BC/semi-BC consoles.

Hi buddy, thanks for the reply. That's really sad to hear! So there is no application that can direct mount ISOs from a placeholder on the XMB that you know of?

Thank you, I tried that one as well. Maybe I need to uninstall the lite version first. Anyway, kozarovv just confirmed above that the is no way PS2 Classics can run anything other than the PS2_NETEMU, so I guess the only solution would be an app that can make placeholders for ISO files that can be mounted directly from XMB.

you can extract placeholder games with ps3tools (turn them into iso), but the last time I tried that, the games came up corrupted.

FYI: Rebug Toolbox is included in the firmware.
You do need to install it via package files,...
but it is there by default when install Rebug firmware

yeah, rebug toolbox is located in the flash in the rebug/packages folder iirc. the category_game.xml points to its location.

No, you need to extract them manually to make them work thru gx_emu. For sure you can do this on PC using PS2 Classics GUI decrypt option (require correct klicesee for psn games).
Iirc you can also extract to iso on ps3 using PS2 Classic Manager: http://www.psx-place.com/threads/ps2-classic-manager-placeholder-for-ps3-by-captain-cps-x.309/

OK. That's what I thought as well, it's on the flash and presented in package manager by default. Then I have no idea why I cant't toggel Original to Cobra, but it doesn't matter since you apparently can't run PS2 Classics with anything other than PS2_NETEMU.

I didn't follow exactly how this is done, would you end up with game that runs straight from the XMB but points to an ISO in ps2Iso-folder?

Thank you for the suggestion. Would any of these methods make games appear on the XMB as a regular game but running an ISO (through GXEMU)? My goal is to have all games look like they are digital installments to have it clean and tidy for family and friends that aren't tech savvy enough to mount ISOs through webman.

I have to say that I really appreciate the skill and involvement in this forum!

Hmm, I think that IRISMAN or MULTIMAN lastGAME extension can partially do this. Also ManaGunZ "Create shortcut" should work the same.

It works like that. You have game in iso, one of above apps create xmb entry that looks like original ps3 app. But when you click on it ISO is mounted instead launching anything.

Not sure there is any better solution for that.

    @kozarovv
This sounds exactly like what I want to do,
let me come back to you when/if I manage to test this!

    UPDATE
Managunz: Unfortunately it seems like I can only make PKG shortcuts of PS3 games, not PS2 games
LastGame (Aldos tools): The created package installs, but goes black and back to XMB after 2 seconds during startup.
LastPlay: Gives me two error messages during boot about "some features won't work ..."

    gxemu -- that's the ps2 semi-bc emulator, correct? I don't think it's designed to do what you're asking.

That's correct. Whenever it runs ISOs from webman it uses GXEMU hence the valid USB support. Since I just learned that PS2 Classics only use NETEMU I need to find a way to mount ISOs smooth from XMB. That's why I'm looking to use lastGame PKGs

IIRC habib added to Cobra 7.5 an option to use PS2 Netemu on backward compatible consoles.
Few days later I implemented in webMAN MOD the following command to be able to use that option:

    /mount.ps3/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/<filename>.iso?emu=ps2_netemu.self

Alternatively you can include the tag [netemu] in the file name. The tag must be in lower case.
