I got this card bundled with a PSP from a seller.
The card claims that it has 16GB capacity.
On the PSP, it shows up as 15GB (which is actually GiB, so it's true)
And I can fill the card almost to full capacity.
However when I look at the card info on PSP, it says "MagicGate: Unknown"
The card has a normal speed, just acts like other cards.
If it does what it should then why it is fake? Or is it fake?

probably 3rd party one,i would't be too much worried about it.i myself prefer adapters and speedier sd cards for faster copying on pc side.

The Device will never show the full capacity of the memory, the 16Gb its just an algorithm manufacture use to identify the capacity, to the closest number possible.

Imagine an HDD, the manufacturer claims its 1Tb, but the real size its 948Gb, its just an stretch algorithm, to represent the internal memory capacity.

There are a ton of 3rd Party Memory Sticks, PSPs will only show the true information on legitimate Sony Memory Sticks, such as MagicGate support, in fact brands such as SanDisk and Lexar use the MagicGate DRM embedded into the Memory Sticks.

MagicGate doesn't make a difference on a PSP, as far as i am aware, its just a DRM option with the file transfer, one thing i know its that PSPs won't boot to service mode, if the Memory Stick isn't MagicGate compatible.
