It's a CECHL01 and when I got it there was a RSOD error saying the hdd was corrupt. I pulled it out formated it put it back into the ps3. Now I'm brought to a screen saying system software cannot be run properly press ps button to restart.

If the system cannot start properly you will need to reinstall software.
Connect storage media that contains update data of 3.15 or later then press start and select at the same time.

I've done tried this a ton of times with cfws, 3.15 ofw and 3.55 ofw and no matter whats on the USB(even tried burning it to a CD) it stalls out on the next screen: Checking...Please Wait. I've tried changing USB ports disconnected the bd n tried no bd cfw nothing. Also tried recovery mode but I cannot move using a controller to a different choice other than restart ps3. Frustration level maxed out hoping someone has some advice for me here! Thanks guys!

What would make that one work when it's not finding any of the normal ones?

Tried it.njust like the other ones?

Does anyone know if the min version it asks for was the last ofw version installed? Like it says 3.15 or newer. I've tried 3.15,3.55 a slew of 4.8x cfws to no prevail. Wondering if there's an easy way to tell what version was last installed? Hoping if I just try that ofw version it will finally go through I think I've spent 8hrs trying to get this pos to install off USB. :( Starting to get more frustrated with this than the dam virus

it usually asks for last fw version installed but sometimes may ask for lower fw. i dont remember why it somestimes asks for lower.

if you havent tried 4.85 official firmware i would try that once. or 4.85 hfw.

it can take a while to get going if usb is slow

format the hdd again but use ntfs. if that doesnt help you should try the cfw with rsod fix from link below. if it works you may have errors about trophies and stuff but that may be fixable later.

    https://mega.nz/#!3FAURabK!5XGwM8HfGgvk0lP0A5zLagrPpeeJnhRTkF1lr4OTLmE

if that one wont install then you may have a hardware problem (bad NOR chip).
