So I made my own background.png for my VSH menu but I HATE the font. I was hoping someone could help me make one using the "rebug" font or id they had one maybe even share. Phatboy slim is the one used if you are inclined to help so much.

I haven't exactly tackled the fonts yet, still having fun with backgrounds :) here's my latest:

background2.png

I'd like to see what you came up with :p

Also STLcardsWS menu doesn't play nicely with rounded edges (just blacks them out)

On topic: seems like the fonts might end up being a cut&paste (but could be wrong, maybe 3141card could enlighten us :))

does anyone have a font file handy?

EDIT: is it just a TTF file? could you not just rename any other font file to the same name as the one your currently using?

I'd assume it's using TTF since that's what the ps3 uses. multiman uses the same format as well by its own font styles or it uses the default ones of the system. atreyu187, I'd advise not using PhatboySlim. it can be extremely difficult to read full sentences with. it was the first font I used whenever I changed the default font of the ps3. here's an example to show what I mean:

lol try this. try opening your favorite ttf file in photoshop. then export it as .PNG
replace the text.png in the vsh folder on the ps3 and test. worst that can happen is the font wont show. me no got ps3 hombre, so i cant try it

edit: nope photoshop wont work
atreyu187

it was 8 bit, changed it to 32 bit. see if that helped. after converting it to 32bit, it now resembles the same formatting as the other original font.png if you open it in hxd.

i think the problem was that it was 8 bit and not 32 bit. owell, try that same download link @bitsbibba . it is 32 bit now

o well, was worth a shot lol. maybe 3141card can input some on it. otherwise we will have to look into it more. i guess it could be because here is not a complete character set too. will look into it tomorrow

i think it needs to have a complete char set like the original:
Screenshot 2015-06-20 01.06.45.png

and if you look at the one i made it has only letters and numbers, no special chars

it seems the ubuntu font isn't much your taste, but if you really want a sony font with full character set, you should try emotion engine one. it is ps2 font, but it is complete and it is very clear to read

I've not looked into this, but it could be a file name recognition problem. normally, the system will display gibberish if anything aside from an elf or xml is corrupted, but if the system can't find the file specified (no matter what it is), it might freeze. interestingly, u can alter file names through xml files if needbe or even add icons and whatnot that don't normally exist.

here's an example. this is when I tried to force a colored coldboot using a white coldboot's script file. what was displayed was garbage, but the system didn't care as long as the name and the hex length were correct:

the system didn't freeze or shut off or anything, 'cause the system thought it was displaying what it should.

that is a really good font, one of many I have on my PC. I'm thinking I might combine aspects from PhatBoy Slim & The Rave is in Your Pants fonts in to one font set. Kind of an Unofficial REBUG font set :p

The font.png is a bit complicated. Here are my photoshop files for make the font.
I have no skills in graphics, its boared and I give a shit how things look.
fonts

The info about the width of a char is stored into the first pixel of a char,
Photoshop was a b**** doing this, so I use the freetool Pixelformer.

masterzorag create a repo on git and add X-BitMap font, thats a way too.

Best way is usage of cell-font library/freetype in vsh. There are also 100% several exports
doing such things. It needs more guys reversing vsh exports. Its stupid writing code for
already existing stuff. E.g. why the code for a own 8bit memset(), if we have a proper 64bit one in C module,
or the printf stuff...

lol, so this is what it was all about.
it is the same stuff you have posted on psxtools, which i cannot get a single clue from. and i thought it was only about a simple font change
