Im new to this. I installed rebug, then restored factory settings with rebug (it says rebug instead of PS3 in the main menu). I put the .pkg (multiman) in a fat32 formatted pendrive, then it in the first or second USB slots of the PS3, but when I go to install packages, nothing is shown. It only shows the three categories: install from hdd, install from standard, etc, but none of them show anything.

What am I doing wrong? Im pretty lost.

I have several side doubts that I cannot find a straight question. I want to backup my BDs to the HDD, then play them from the HDD, select them from the main menu like a normal game. I think i need multiman for the backup, but it seems that I need webman too to play them from the main menu? Is this right? I ask because it seems redundant. If I have the backup already, I kinda dont get why I need an additional program to play it.

Will the PS3 recognize ntfs usb pendrives? Can I format the PS3 hard drive in ntfs?

    Thanks you very much

Choose INSTALL FROM STANDART to install from USB.
WebMan and IrisMan support NTFS external drives as long as you put your games in the right folders.
The PS3 will always format the internal drive to it's own format.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to get the eid_root_key (It's the key for the PS3 HDD!)

Thanks for your answer. But as I said it shows nothing... I dont know what is the problem. I tried with 2 FAT32 pendrives, one was a 2.0 and the other a 3.0. I put all the .pkg in then root of them, then go to that option in ps3 and says there is nothing. In fact, I dont know how to test that the PS3 even recognizes the USBs, and that this is the problem, and not the rebug/config.

I have no idea what is the eid_root_key or how to use it.

scroll over to photos with one of those fat32 flash drives. see if the system detects it.

Under the video category in the main menu,
You should see "USB Device (STORAGE DEVICE)" if your USB is detected.

eid_root_key is the KEY OF THE PS3 HARD DRIVE!
The PS3 "locks" the HDD with a password,eid_root_key is the password to your data.

Finally, it detected it, i dont know how. But it certainly seems that it has to be connected when it turn on, otherwise it wont work.

I found how to get the eid_root_key, but Im not sure whats its purpose. Isnt it for when you hook the PS3 HDD directly to the PC? If I plan to leave it always in the PS3, i wont need it, right?

When you dump your eid root key,you can select rewrite target in flash in rebug toolbox, which lets you swap between cex and dex mode, and then you finish by selecting swap lvl 2 kernel.

In case the PS3 dies you will need the eid_root_key to access your PS3 data.

I finally solved the USB thing. The partitions in the USB drive were in GPT, so in diskpart I did "convert MBR".

For modern use (I have tested on Rebug 4.85), be sure to Enable QA flag
