    Is there a way to sign PS2 games and install them via the package manager so that I can launch them from the xmb without the aid of multiman just like ps1 games? I'm looking for an alternative to using the ps2classics method because my console fan spins too loudly. I have a super slim cech-4201a.

    If you have got webMAN MOD, there is an option for PS2 games...
    webMAN Games -> webMAN Setup -> PS3 webMAN [Setup]
    -> PS2 Emulator 40% fan speed.

    Why 40%, because most (not all) PS3 is emulating PS2 by software.
    Console can overheat... so this value is let say "safe".

    Anyway maybe this tool be useful:

    @Naked_Snake1995 Is there a way to convert PS2 iso to pkg and sign them with my idp info? I'd like to launch PS2 games directly from the xmb. The fan is too loud to play from webman.

    ps2 games can't use dynamic fan control, which is why you need to adjust it accordingly. you also can't fix ps2 classics games to work without a license.

    iven seen so many post like this, some people complaining about loud fans when they play ps2 games, then told them to disable dynamic fan control. then just a few days later, they return with a post with my ps3 is overheating when playing ps2 games, then telling them to just enable dynamic fan control, rinse and repeat.

    if you dont want load fans while playing ps2 games, then just get a ps2 slim. please understand that ps3 is emulating the ps2 game that you were playing pushing both rsx and cell to its limits and the after effects of that is your ps3 generates more heat. we are emulating ps2 games on a dated 2006-ish era ps3 hardware.

    I believe the reason why they're unfixable is that there's no free ps2 game on psn that you can get the klicense from.

    Nah but at least ones we make all share the same universal .rap as I have converted even my official ones at times to use the PS2 Classics .rap file as I like to use custom covers for my PKG files.

    that's generally what we rely on. free games are what can cripple a system's battle against piracy. yaris, for example, is the only free 360 xbl game, so you can just use its header on any content from xbl and it will work. I think they pulled the game, but the damage was done. also, god games (games on demand) are nearly identical to game rips you make with the system except for the fact that the game disc doesn't need to be in the drive to be verified, so essentially ripping games using the official game rip function of the 360 are converted to god format. it literally takes seconds to do a large number of games. I think even the switch hacking scene does this. there must be some content they're using to make everything free. I was thinking it was some pokemon game, but I haven't really been paying attention to the switch stuff.

    btw, when I say free, I mean not needing a rap. I find it hilarious that some people on content sites think these uploaders are actually hacking these games. I say "fix" a game without its rap file, because I know you wouldn't be able to. it just takes two minutes to learn how to do this. :)

    @atreyu187 , I just remembered something. I believe it is possible to add additional klicenses to lv2 on the system (possibly even a free one for the ps2), but I've never heard of anyone doing it. not sure if it would work with ps2 games though. it would probably require extensive testing.

    not sure. there's some information about it on psdevwiki. if it is possible, there may not be a need for the placeholder rap. if a free klicense is detected, then the rap2rif conversion is skipped.

    edit: this is something I read a long time ago (possibly on psdevwiki). I haven't bothered with reading, researching, or testing for years, so it just came to me. I don't know if it's possible or not. tbh, it may not be worth it considering how easy it is to activate a license now. and, it may mess something up (not sure).

    The ps2 placeholder rap is not longer needed in PS3HEN (Mamba 8.2 and "Cobra 8.2" too).
    They have the rap embedded into the payload. 2P0001-PS2U10000_00-0000111122223333.rif can be created automatically without the rap file.
