never really understood why people want an n64 emulator so much. does that system really have that many good games? granted, it does have oot, which is arguably the greatest game of all time, but beyond that and a handful of other titles, I don't get it. imo, best way to play n64 is with a wii u. the ps3 needs a new dynarec to emulate the n64.

It was that first big leap into 3d gaming and if you were not a kid of the era and have those fond memories of the great times with friends and when couch multiplayer was becoming a real big thing. N64 was a staple of the foundation most video games follow now vs the 2d era. And there is just something about emulating a much nintendo on sony hardware that makes the whole thing very funny. Since it was nintendo screweing their sony snes colab and thus forcing sonys hand to making the PlayStation brand

To me the ultimate bragging right would be making a smooth high quality n64 emulator one of the hardest things to emulate to run on the hardest thing to program for

A PS3 port of dolphin emu to run gamecube & wii games (+ move controller support) would be pretty cool, i guess there is some technical limitation that it makes it imposible :/
The nintendo handhels... well since DS/DS(i)/3DS all them have 2 screens and that looks very bad when displayed on top of each other in a 16:9 TV (huge black wands at the sides), and the touchscreen feature is a problem
The interest in the N64 emu is mostly because there are good N64 emulators since years ago, and yeah it had some nice games (i would play all the zeldas again)

I would even play Castlevanias in N64's ugly 3D but not on N64 joypad. But it looks like we need wait to PS4 open again (or those who have it with 5.05) to emulate it on Linux. Such inception never ending well.

I believe that n64 emu craving is hard based on region. Is rare to someone outside of NA, or UK really want that emu so hard. Mostly because n64 wasn't popular outside of those regions. For some people n64 is probably the same as PS1/PS2 for us. ;)

I bought the PS1 vs the N64 in my young days but a friend had the n64. Goldeneye was a great game back then, N64 had alot of gems. Its held up well through time as well. Overall its a good retro system

but yes @Berion those controllers i hated as well. That is why i rather emulate n64 then play on real hardware (at least real controller).

I cannot understand why so many peoples idealizing Mario 64. It was good game but nothing really special, and it looks ugly even on premiere. The same with TLoZ: Ocarina of Time + Majora's Mask (BTW: is DD64 expanded version is already emulating?). I mostly value prequels like i.e absolutely master pieces: SMW2: Yoshi's Island and TLoZ: A Link to The Past. But yes, N64 have his good games like Banjoo Kazooie/2, various of Mario games (I like more Paper Mario than M64 :P), two Zelda's, Turok etc. as all consoles. Even 3DO have some good games. :D

See i cant stand hearing baby mario cry and zelda games atlre like final fantasy gam3a to me... Too much txt not enough action. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and most people will say sm64 is the greatest game ever made

Baby mario was AWFUL... SMW1 was awesome! SMB1/3/World/64 were awesome. Loved link to the past, and even liked the zelda for the original gameboy. Also, can't forget the mk series... that was a fun one to get into.... mk1-3(almost all variartions)... Good times, man....good times....

I also very liked Mario All Stars (remakes of SMB1-3 from NES) but come one, Yoshi's Island rules in every aspects (artistic, level design, gameplay). That's the best Mario ever made (yet still I never played any Mario beyond GC). And to be honest, I would love to finish Mario 64 as I never did (by finish I mean all stars etc.).

if you have a switch, get link's awakening. amazing game, but unbelievably short. I guess that's to be expected being a gb game, but they could've added more content. I beat the game, but I haven't 100%. I've had a tendency to do that: beat the game, then move on to the next one.

lol, baby Mario. wouldn't it be embarrassing if Mario was crying while you were in public? looking up from the screen, darting your eyes back and forth hoping no one heard it. haha
