I have a cech 3xxx console and i already know how it works like instaling hwf<han<hen etc.. so the thing is my brother has a ps3 2001a and i know i should install cfw on that instead of hen but i’m not familiar on cwf console so please help me i will do my research as i can just need clarification.

    my question is :
    1. Is this the right link to jailbreak my brother’s console? https://www.psx-place.com/threads/p...mpers-v2-0-1-now-install-cfw-from-4-84.23123/ if not please help me to find one or just tell me what guide should i follow.

    2. I’m not also familiar to rebug, cobra etc.. so should i install it after i install cfw? Or no need?

    3. It’s 4.55version should i upgrade it to 4.84 the latest one before jailbreaking it?

2.rebug is the "brand" of the cfw.cobra is the method of mounting ISO's.most latest cfw's have cobra integrated,so there's no need to install it manually, but maybe for some reason you would want other method or feature or maybe you want cleanest cfw possible for like online reasons,so you can find cfw's without cobra or other payloads.

for beginners there's no need to worry about stuff like that, all the more known cfw's (rebug, ferrox, etc) do most the stuff you want out of the box.for me personally on rebug most stuff works without any more thinkering,so i would recommend rebug always first.however,i use less and less stuff on the ps3 these days, currently i have only webman MOD,irisman, retroarch and movian installed and i don't need anything else really.but basically any of the more well known cfw is fine for starting out.

Okay, so you are on 4.55 right? Update to 4.82 with this PUP: https://mega.nz/#!dIAgQA5D!HdV3Zxr5rEaNgt1agKssXQ-9TRH_WMYxCUOvWTbz2QA Then use this: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/p...even-easier-to-install-cfw-on-4-82-ofw.16139/
To make it easier, follow this tutorial by MrMario2011:

    Rebug is a CFW.
It is the BEST CFW by far, that's atleast what I think.
https://rebug.me/ Pick the one at the top.

Its better update to 4.84 HFW, ps3xploit.com, the official site, has dropped support for 4.82.

    https://www.psx-place.com/threads/u...lash-tools-restored-for-4-84-ofw-users.23094/

Do some reading of that thread above too.

    And also these pages
    http://ps3xploit.com/help/faq.html
    http://ps3xploit.com/help/dumper.html
    http://ps3xploit.com/help/writer.html

Follow this guide by the same guy, its much more thorough, especially on the safety side of things, 13 minutes longer and worth every second of it.

i've found error/uncomplete information in that tut,and i'm like 2-3 minutes in...he just says to format the flash drive for .pups as fat32 and in win10 file explorer not that they need to be MBR and MBR/GPT conversion can't be done in file explorer.

not bashing the guy,i don't have anything against him or anyone else's hustle but if you want to preach to the people better know all of it,all the ins and outs of the thing before preaching.

I get your point., But its not an error. It just could have been more thorough and we can always say that no matter how thorough it is. Its only big drives that will get formatted to NTFS GPT, windows will not even allow you to format big drives to FAT32 so it wont be an issue.,

Windows will format smaller drives to FAT32 MBR by default which is perfect.

Also its not a safety issue, so if user has issue with usb drive not showing, they use google, or they ask and get an answer.. no harm done.

As you can see in the video, he formatted his stick on windows 10 and it worked perfectly.. so not sure what the issue is tbh.

Just name the file UPDAT.PUP and paste it from the root on a FAT32 USB Drive like this: X:/PS3/UPDATE/UPDAT.PUP (Where X is you drive letter.
Well I think updating to 4.84 when there is a simpler exploit on 4.82 is kind of a waste of time. + the fact that they have dropped support doesnt mean you won't get support here instead... I will definitely help if someone needs help ;)

I don't mean that kind of support, I mean that the 4.82 exploits are no longer hosted there, the help sections are no longer for 4.82 etc. AND Mrmario has fixed the 4.84 tutorial that was missing loads of safety..what reason is there not to update to HFW?

It was only necessary to use PS3Xploit on 4.82 and stay on this version when the exploit was patched in 4.83. With the arrival of HFW on 4.84, there is no need to stay on 4.82 and exploit from there as it can be done on the current latest firmware version with just as much ease, if not easier.

Plus, as @DeViL303 says the tools have been updated since the 4.82 exploit and the developers themselves recommend the 4.84 exploit. Besides, if the user wanted to use newer CFW versions, such as Rebug 4.84.2 with the updated Cobra version (v8.1 on 4.84 vs v7.55 on 4.82), then they'd have to update their firmware via USB anyway. :)

Yesterday as we stated in another post 4.82 is no longer supported with PS3Xploit. So again upgrade to 4.84 not 4.82 to avoid any issues. There is a newer video for 4.84 as the one he posted for 4.82 was missing steps and has caused some users to brick their system.

Not sure what is "simpler" about exploiting 4.82 vs 4.84 either? AFAIK its the same exploit it just got updated instructions.

Exactly.. Even the first 4.84 tutorial was bad on safety. so I'm sure the 4.82 one is the same or worse as its older.

Well it's simpler cause you don't need to install HFW.

I really don't get your point. Updating to HFW requires the exact same steps as you advised here (but with correct spellings), so how is updating to 4.82 from 4.55 simpler than HFW? :)
BTW your instructions are wrong... :-p

I will explain exactly why it is 100% not simpler to exploit on 4.82 as you seem to be sticking to "4.82 is simpler" even in the face of logic.
    • From 4.55, it is exactly the same amount of steps to download and install HFW instead of 4.82.
    • If on 4.82, he will need to download a local webserver application as the 4.82 exploits are no longer hosted online.
    • If on 4.82 he will need to install and setup that webserver which takes time and is not "simpler" than not doing it.
    • If on 4.82 he will need to FIND and download the 4.82 html and js files and host them himself on his LAN, also not "simpler" IMO.
    • If on 4.82 he will need to FIND the 4.82 HEX file as its not on ps3xploit.com anymore.
    • If on 4.82 he will need to know his IP and port, simple yes, but not "simpler"
    • If on 4.82 and he follows your advice to use the old tutorial, he will not be told about any safety checks like MD5 checks, dumping flash and checking it etc..
Please tell us one thing that is "simpler" if he uses 4.82 compared to 4.84 HFW?

Download for everything is right here:
    https://www.psx-place.com/threads/p...even-easier-to-install-cfw-on-4-82-ofw.16139/
NO NEED FOR INTERNET aswell. Easy setup with a webserver.
When updating to HFW you need to be on 4.84 THEN install HFW right? or have I understood this the wrong way or something?
That's one more FW install. Takes more time.

Well PS3UPDAT.PUP then blablablabla I happened to forget it okay. :-p

Also i see that 4.82 tutorial you linked to actually says that NANDs can not be dumped at the start,... So I guess on a NAND there is not even a possibility of safety? lol, as we all know, that is 100% wrong.

It's for PS3Xploit V1, but you know, I used this tutorial with V2 and it all worked fine because you know, common sense.:confused:;)
