i'm needing and extra cooler to my ps3 and i'm really interrested in this one

The main reason is that it throws the hot air flow to the top, not to the back, that interrested me, since i have not a good space at where i storage my ps3, and redirecting them to the top will be nice.

But the worse comes now, they are officially discontinued and nowhere to be found, i found only one guy on ebay but too overpriced 40 Bucks and it was initially sold by 20

And it doesnt ship to my country, I'm negociating with him to me to pay an extra tax!

Any of you guys are selling this at a better price? :P

I would not trust this. there's a nyko intercooler for the 360 too, and it actually causes the system to overheat. there are pics of some of them with actual scorch marks.

External coolers are never a good idea, they always overheat the system, much than is needed, people use them a lot back in the day when RROD and YLOD was suspect of overheating, so using these external coolers sorta prevent thoes issues, when in reality it made it worse.

Nyko intercoolers aren't that expensive here in Europe, you can snag one for 10€ or less in the used market, and they aren't worth gold, they are basically usless to me.

Professional advice, stay away from external coolers, clean your machine, repaste it and you are pretty much done, don't expect a external cooler to save your fan troubles, because it wont, if the machine hasn't been cleaned before, don't expect miracles.

Clean your machine once a year, do all the proper maintenance. And you won't be needing these fancy coolers.

I have that Nyko cooler on my slim but I modded it a lot to be efficient. Do not use it as is. Prefer internal fan management for a regular CFW console use.
I installed it because I use a dualboot system.

    What I did is :
    - added an on/off power switch
    - removed or enlarged all the plastic grids.
    - removed the internal fans and replaced by x3 external fans.

I'll post some pictures later next week.

There's only one cooling solution I would trust to do the job and thats a water cooling mod conversion, but its not that cheap to do but combine that with an external PSU mod and your PS3 will/should never have an issue over heating again no matter the amibant temps or such things. I have just started to order the bits I need to do this to one of my Slims.

I was looking into doing a water cooling mod to my PS3. But the Frankenstein machine that would have been left afterwards would not have resembled a Ps3 anymore at all so I abandoned the idea. There was a company that actually made the blocks for cell and rsx, but they are hard to come by now and expensive at that

    So, the original:

    vs

    my modded Nyko cooler:

    What I did:
    - Removed the original fans from inside the case, opened the exhaust grid and holes to the maximum, and replaced by x3 akasa blue led 30mm fans outside the case. Original fans block the airflow more than it help...
    - Added a power switch in add to the exising low/high speed fan swich.
    - Removed most of the inlet plastic grid.
