I am searching for otheros In many YouTube videos.I saw people running rebug cfw and they just install otheros.pkg and reboot and then a new option to boot otheros appears in the game category.if otheros.pkg is a homebrew.I think we would be able to launch it.But not sure would it work.Has someone tested them?

Installing other operating systems isn't possible on current HEN versions, you may be able to add that option to the XMB, but you wouldn't be able to boot any other OS. If I'm not mistaken installing and booting other OS requires some kernel patches that are impossible to achieve successfully on HEN.

It also requires re-sizing the Flash regions of the PS3 which is also not possible on HEN.

TBH for running Linux in 2019, you would be better off with a Raspberry Pi 3 or 4 IMO rather than a PS3.

Don't expect for the HEN anytime soon, as long as the metldr2 its still uncracked, there is no way a Custom Firmware neither OtherOS will be compatible with thoes systems, so don't ask for further information.

Want a OtherOS compatible machine get a CFW Compatible PlayStation3 Phat or Slim with minimum factory firmware of 3.56,or get a Phat and downgrade it to a firmware below 3.21,which was the OtherOS removal in 2011.

A cheap PC that can run Linux is not hard to come by for a couple hundred dollars.

That said even older generation Raspberry Pi's for $10 could do it at an absolute minimum. Newer/Current Gen $35

Yeah Raspberry Pi is not so expensive but it's not available in pakistan. No online services are available in Pakistan.Only Ebay but Paypal is not available here so we cannot buy anything.Pakistani debit and credit cards such as visa and mastercard do not work here so the only way is to say a relative in any foreign country.

Well it isn't metldr2 that stops Linux. It's lvl1 patches that stops that. Which has been mentioned could be defeated but isn't a priority. Lvl0 is hidden behind metldr2 which is what we would need for CFW. That probably won't be done ever TBH as ECDSA when properly implemented hasn't been defeated in over 30 years of use. If it ever happened we would be in a world of crap as ECDSA is used for so many things like private bank accounts etc. And to attempt to bruteforce would take a chain of super PC's hundreds of years. The only good thing that would come from this is Sony couldn't fix that so long as the firmware it was discovered on would need a new hardware revision

ECDSA is pretty complicated. I think kokotonix published an article about how ECDSA works and why it's nearly impossible to crack. the patches to cfw are meant to disable it, not defeat it.

Luckily the only time that is checked is upon boot hence the reason we have HEN. Reminds me of the days graf was working to document the hypervisor. But had Sony of not screwed up sending a console back to the wrong person with a service jig we most likely wouldn't have has the first dongle and an entry point into the system. Their security was nearly flawless if they actually implemented it properly. Once they had userland & lvl2 access it was all downhill from there. And had @STLcardsWS not have gotten the Cobra devs to release the source code even with CFW we wouldn't have had HEN.

I found it hilarious that sony seized graf's computer to which graf said something like "the information is still in here <pointing to his head>, so even if you take my computer away you won't take away what I know." can't recall the exact quote, but it was something like that.
