Hello psxplace's forum. A little question here.

I've got two different PS3's. A slim and a fat semi BC both on 4.84 cfw (Habib and Rebug). I enjoy playing PS2 games and I've noticed the BC PS3 resolves slightly better the image on my 48" Sony Bravia although it doesn't completely fit in the screen using normal scaling method (4:3). On the other hand the PS3 slim curiously fits completely so that there's no black empty spaces on the upper and lower part of the TV.

Is there a way the PS2 games can fit into the screen on the BC PS3 4:3wise? Thanks!

Did you set full screen in upscaller option?

I have CECH-A01(EE+GS) and CECH-E01(GS), A01 has the worst upscaler while E01 is slightly better. The difference comes from emulator variation.

The best thing you could do is to apply wide screen patch on the rom itself and use TV's screen size adjustment...

Ps2_netemu (non-BC) has the best upscaler in my opinion although its game compatibility is the worst. Some games are even better on netemu with a proper configuration though. @kozarovv and @mysis can explain this better.

If I apply full screen on the scaler the result will be a 16:9 screen. PS2 games originally have the classic 4:3 aspect ratio. IMO 16:9 ratio is not an option cause of the heavy distortion.

Thanks for your answer. That's very interesting to know. Thus each PS3 model has different upscalers and even different quality renditions. Mine's are fat CECHE and 2004A. I'm also using an anti-alisasing HDMI wire and the results aren't bad. There's an improvement on image quality at the expense of an increased contrast.

I tried the TV screen settings and now the game screen almost fit the TV 4:3wise. Thanks again.

Thats because the C04/E01 (GS) BC PlayStation3, upscales them at 1080p, and a NON-BC PlayStation3 (SoftEmu) its capped at 720p.

One thing ive noticed with the E01/C04, being regarded as the worst PS3 to play PS2 games on ,it actually is the best in terms of image quality, crisp and sharp, even reviewers and collectors, praise the E01/C04 as the best PS3 in terms of image quality, against the A01/B01.
