A Huge PS3 exploit was recently restored on the console when the release of 4.84 HFW (hybrid firmware) was released to the scene. This paved the way to re-activate PS3Xploit Hacks (from 4.82) as this hybrid firmware was able to take the 4.82 webkit and inject into a 4.84 official firmware and then the key was able to still install on any PS3 model running any PS3 firmware,. So this became quite useful, out of the gate the HAN (etHANol) tools were updated and ready to go however the CFW Flash Writer and Flash / IDPS Dumper's needed some additional testing to ensure quality. I am pleased to announce the wait is now over and the team is now releasing the PS3Xploit Flash Writer and Flash/IDPS Dumping Tools which the important flash writer makes it possible to install a CFW from the 4.84 OFW once the hybrid firmware is installed., This exploit and tools were patched in 4.83 firmware but now is back and roaring in 4.84 and is sure to be patched again when 4.85 is released..

For best results with the flash writer, here are the recommended steps.

      1. Install HFW 4.84 twice on the console you wish to flash to avoid the potential corruption error during CFW installation.
      2. Depending on which option you choose, and model of your ps3. Go to ps3xploit.com select "Flash writer" --> 4.84 HFW --> Flash from XXX (depend that you are following USB or HDD method) --> NAND or NOR depending on your console model.
        * A.) Is your console a NOR or NAND? Find out here
      3. Set the current page as browser homepage. Don't launch the exploit initialization. Close the browser.
      4. Open the PS3 browser once again. The exploit page will load automatically (if set to homepage correctly). Choose your path for hex file if you are following USB method or download the flash_484.jpg file if you use the hdd edition.
      5. Press the exploit initialization button & wait until initialization succeeds. If it fails, follow the refresh/reload instructions on screen.
      6. Trigger the exploit.
      7. On success, load the ps3xploit.com dumper, dump the flash memory & check it with py checker tool. Don't restart if ever the validation tool gives you errors/warnings in both ros0 & ros1 or risk a partial brick.
      8. Restart your console & install a 4.84 CFW.

      Usage Tips:
      • Try using a LAN connection or a solid WiFi connection during exploitation. A weak signal can cause problems.
      • If the exploit takes more than 5 minutes to work, reload page, browser, or restart console and tryS again.
      • If you are using a LAN connection and experience network issues, make sure all cables to router are in working order.

      • Using the official PlayStation instructions for installing System Updates via USB Storage Device:
      • Save the update data to the following location on the storage media. Using a computer, create a folder named "PS3" on the storage media. Within the "PS3" folder, create a folder named "UPDATE". Make sure that both folder names are all UPPER CASE. Save the update data in the "UPDATE" folder. From there add the CFW PUP in the "UPDATE" folder and rename it to "PS3UPDAT.PUP"

    • Installing Homebrew
After you have downloaded a Homebrew .pkg In the GAME Column on the XMB of your CFW (depending on your CFW choice) you will see either "install Package files" or "Package Manager". this will look for .pkgs on the root of a usb storage device.

Connecting to PSN on a CFW Console?

This is at your own risk, nothing is 100% known and its possible you can get a ban from PSN.These methods have been effective in keeping many from seeing a ban but again nothing is 100% Follow the rules and guidelines you have agree to and respect the PSN network, abuse it, you will get banned.
      1. The safest way to not get banned from PSN when you have a CFW enabled PS3 is by installing a Dualboot firmware and playing your games from the original disc when playing multiplayer on PSN or even connecting to some services.
      2. Another option hiding your CFW, this theoretical can be done with disabling cfw syscalls (aka temporary disabling CFW, until the next console boot). PSNpatch , SEN Enabler and webMAN MOD all have this feature built in but all have other features around it like when PSNpatch plugin is installed for safety reasons you can not accidental even signin to PSN without disabling your CFW syscalls.
