    RetroArch v1.7.3 has been released by the official team, but the PS3 still has the incorrect core set included in the last few versions. All ports did get some new additions, but the main features of this update are geared to a new User Interface (WIMP Qt) for the PC version of the app, The latest changelog can be seen below and a more indepth look at some of the features of this update be sure to checkout the source link below:

    • RetroArch v1.7.3 (General Changelog)

      • AUDIO: Audio mixer supports FLAC/MP3 file types now!
      • COMMON: Fixed bug ‘crashing in cores that don’t range check retro_set_controller_type’. Some people were having crashes when device is set to
      • RETRO_DEVICE_NONE and the cores don’t check the number of ports, in VBAM’s case it was overflowing and crashing. QuickNES was crashing too.
      • COMMON: Fixed buffer overflow in url encoding (affecting MSVC2010/2013).
      • COMMON: (QuickMenu) Added Configuration Override submenu.
      • HID: Merge new HID subsystem.
      • HID: Fix WaveBird support for the Wii U GCA.
      • HID/OSX: Fix regression with IODHIDManager – gamepads which are connected later would not be autoconfigured.
      • LOCALIZATION: Update Italian translation.
      • LOCALIZATION: Update Japanese translation.
      • LOCALIZATION: Update Portuguese translation.
      • MENU: New WIMP Qt GUI!
      • MENU: Audio mixer now works in the menu without any cores loaded. You have to enable the setting ‘Enable menu audio’ for this to work.
      • REMAPPING/OVERLAYS: Fix regression – overlays could no longer be remapped.
      • SCANNER: Add Wii Backup File WBFS support.
      • X11: CRT SwitchRes support for X11/Linux.

    Note: Still broken/missing core set in PS3 version (same as v1.7.2 core set)

    Most part PS3 / Vita / PSP changes are small but there is some general changes that applies to all ports.

    snes9x2005plus come in this version and runs good (i test 5 SMW hack roms...)

    I do not recommend support from liberto, guys from RA do not read forums or github i dont know why, I've made some corrections in translation, and I have to update the file on github and forum for the substitution, no reaction :(.

    They read but they do not always respond, Usually i can get a response in some way from them if needed. but often times i will report something and not see anything but see the change made. They have ALOT of ports and one of the project creators TwinAphex aka Squarepusher is the of the only dev that even does much with PS3 port directly (officially) and since he is the creator of the project it kind of stands for reason that he may not have the PS3 on his primary focus with so many other big platforms supported. PC/Android ect... So many get on him but there is no one the team that does anything with the PS3 (but they should handle the port better). All other contributions are from outside contributors like Zar ,Ezio (& various others) ,which honestly i wish were in charge of the PS3 port officially. Because that would limit the bad releases we see officially. (they are only bad because they are not packed correctly and include the right files for the PS3.)


    My personal goal for this project is to document:
    - Document the Complete project -

    - Document all PS3 Issues (so they can be fixed officially or in a Forked version)
    (not very many now when everything is packed correctly for PS3 port, a few menu's and options that give issues that need to be addressed)

    - Add all PS3 Compatible files (exclude others): Shader's / Overlay's / translations ect....


    Once we have this all in order we will have a STABLE release with everything working.
    The Project really close on all fronts.. for sure the effort is going to have to be made by the community and not the team it self.
    So i think we get to this point and we outline everything the PS3 version needs and we go from there.

    I believe that was the one that was running half-speed on Ezio's Extended version 1.7.1?

    Also that would be a new core included then (overlooked that as it was not in v1.7.2 official)

    And I really appreciate the work here on the psx scene and liberto, great respect because I know how hard it is, just making a translation from scratch took many days, and corrections next hours, sometimes it seemed that what is on paper looks good but after releasing the next version of RA, the lyrics looked like crap for me, and I corrected them every time I could, but from the last two versions my files are not added, translators all up to date, just Polish before my translation in RA was acclimated from what I remember more than a long time ago more than a year ago, someone has provided support this language for RA.

    half-speed worked and works a Beetle bsnes ;) , from what I remember, snes9x2005plus worked well if I'm not mistaken.

    Yea was mednafen(beetle) SNES that ran slow. Too many SNES cores lol

    Well, too many cores in general, for each equipment :P LOL, it should be one console to one 100% efficient core ;)

    jajaja...xD yep... to many cores for Snes... i see 5 and 4 works well (little test...) Snes9x, 2005, 2005 plus, 2010. and yes only runs slow is beetle bnes...

    be cause see in the post core coparation RA 1.7.2 vs 1.7.1 Ex... say "Snes9x 2005 (half speed)" i say in this version runs good (and in 1.7.3 is Snes9x 2005 plus) if i not wrong is diferent core...

    That was a mistake by me :) .. Was thinking mednafen_snes (aka bettle_snes).

    Snes9x 2005 Plus plays Yoshi's Island full-speed (the newer cores you have to overclock the Super FX chip via Core Options). However, after using rewind, I got glitchy sounds, and when I exited a level the PS3 froze.

    i recomended play Super Mario World "Brutal" its realy great...!! :D

    pd: for Nes mod games the only core works for my is "FCEUmm" ;)

    Seems like mame2000 is mostly broken, tried to load double dragon and contra and both did not work.

    I download RA 1.7.3 nightly version and there is a new core called "cannonball".
    Whenever i want to start this core, it freezes the system.
    I'm on 4.82.2 CEX

    can anyone test this core ?

    because release is nightly is not stable, test another from other hour.

    did u include files of the game ? Anyway it's still a work in progress.
