    Hey everyone,

I am one of the unlucky people who bought the PSN version of GTA V, which introduces an awful amount of pop in, slow loading times, texture streaming issues, etc.

It is possible to do something to alleviate this?
Can the installation somehow be split between a USB and HDD like the Xbox 360 version?
If nothing can be done witht he PSN version, can it be done with the disc version?

    Thanks for any answers.

you can't do that. the two-letter category type for content is what determines where it's installed. you can remap the game folder. that's what gamedata tool does, but remapping that location means that both can't be read at the same time.

Thank you for your response. :)

What got me thinking about this is a thread on another site. The guys over there talk about using the game on an external drive.

Are they referring to the gamedata tool you are mentioning? This is activated through webman, right?

the problem with gamedata tool is that it requires a fat32 drive. plus, if you install a pkg directly to the external hdd, it's slow as hell. we're talking like an hour to install a larger packages. it also doesn't work with all games.

webman MOD and IRISMAN.theory is that iso of the game is on the external ntfs drive so that game can simultaneously access both gamedata on the internal and game image on external drive, thus loading would be faster.i did run this setup but my internal drive is really junky so all if any benefits were curbed by low performance of internal drive.

but anyway i didn't had any obvious problems like heavy stuttering or anything similar, but having been accustomed to gtaV on a decent PC i couldn't never play it on the ps3 that much.my nephew however is currently playing it on my ofw superslim that i've borrowed to him and was playing on my cfw cechc when he was at my place a couple of times and i haven't heard him complaining though.it's in both cases my own personal disc of the game,on cechc was iso of it and on superslim it's actual disc.

even with remapping, the metadata file will still show that the game is on the internal hdd. remapping was thought to be a way to play ps2 games from external, but it doesn't work. going into ps2 mode will reset gamedata tool, so it will look on the internal hdd again. this causes the system to freeze.

i'll do a comparison in a couple of days on AF drives/ssd's and will include gtav in the test so will report on my findings, but it's safe to assume that it will work on faster drive similarily as in other games that are heavy on streaming resources (Skyrim,TLoU...) and there's a clear benefit both in loading and more importantly in game as shown in this video:

Sounds interesting, you shhould add Wolfenstein: The New Order to your testing. That game's texture streaming on the PS3 is awful at all times, but the game is so badass. C:
