The 4.84 Custom Firmware landscape for the PS3 is certainly taken shape here in the last few days as we have seen multiple developer's rejoice and not only update things but progressing the PS3 scene as well. We seen Team Rebug drop 4.84 REBUG LITE edition & 4.84 FERROX Cobra cfw's that had the Cobra v7.55 payload, but as Team Rebug member @Joonie was finishing up the Rebug Lite release/testing and was about about to release, developer @habib (another team rebug member) was working on advancing the Cobra payload with some new features that would mature the payload to Cobra v8.00 (updated v8.01 see below) and in this 4.84 STARBUGED COBRA (v8.00) CFW. This blend of Starbucks + Rebug = Starbuged and not only does this CFW come equipped with the new Cobra v8.00 features but also contains all the feature that REBUG Lite edition contains as well.

The Cobra v8.00 payload see's a few changes highlighted by the ability to run a payload with kernel privileges in a way like those familiar with the PS Vita scene see with skprx, same concept but now with the PS3. Currently only a single payload is supported at a time but habib says he may increase this into the future. Also v8.00 should improve boot time dramatically according the developer as there is no longer a Stage 1 at boot up, Also note that this CFW has Cobra enabled by default (in contrast to rebug lite, needs to be turned on). Additional details about this CFW release can be seen below.

I wonder how it is possible to update to OFW "by accident" lol I mean I have to start the update manually, since the PS3 not Update himself without any confirmation.

I would make a new thread for this question, as this is one is for people using this CFW who may have an issue or question about it.

Its quite simple to make one and your questions will be answered, but might i make a suggestion and add to it your ps3 model (CECH*****) as well as the FW its on (4.84). also the adivise given and any help you may need may take up quite a few posts. Plus it pouts your issue and question where everyone is going to see it and not hidden away in another thread were few people may see it so ypou can get the best possible answers you can get.

Don't know if this a a Multiman, Webman or Cfw bug, but when i run multiman if i then exit the app and try to launch a game from Webman or launch another app, the ps3 freezes. Happens on Starbuged and Rebug.

Yes you can.... with the right Hardware flasher for if your PS3 is NAND or NOR for CFW. if for HAN then your stuffed pretty much.

Cannot do much or give any advice without knowing the posters PS3 model though.

Wich bring us back to the original point, you CAN’T ‘jailbreak’ on 4.84, you need to downgrade to a lower firmware.

That is a known bug between mM && wMM... maybe @deank could have an answer why it is happening... maybe some lv2 patch in mM is causing conflict???

For now, restart before use webMAN again after having loaded multiMAN.

      Cypher_CG89
YES you can.... PS3 Dump Checker has a 4.84 NoFSM Ferrox based patch for direct 4.84 CFW installation after flashing... you DO NOT need to downgrade to install CFW.
    18. Coldheart2236
      Coldheart2236
You cannot use PS3Xploit software jailbreak on 4.84 without a hardware flasher, as Cypher says, but using a patched dump allows direct installation of CFW on OFW 4.84 with no need to downgrade beforehand.

Is this not a priority issue? l like if you use one first to mount games is take's priority over the path the games are mounted. I have not tried to do this with ManaGunZ to see if the same thing happens as I really only use it to auto load PS2 ISO configs?

This is what I thought the priority install pkgs were for...so this didn't happen if you use one app for one thing and another for something totally different?
    20. aldostools
      aldostools
      I don't think it's a priority issue...

      multiMAN has 2 modes:

mmCM mode (multiMAN for Cobra) uses almost the same method used by webMAN to mount games through Cobra syscall.

multiMAN mode was originally intended for standard CFW without Cobra. It uses a mM payload to load games.

Both modes apply patches to lv2 memory... One more than the other.

In the other hand, webMAN MOD also applies lv2 patches when games are mounted.

If the same patches are applied, they overlap and everything should work as expected.
If some patches are different, they could conflict and cause issues like freeze.
