    Here is v2 of the latest PS3 Hack to hit the PS3 Scene with the recent release of PS3HEN. This exploit for nonCFW console's provides homebrew support and a number of Custom Firmware intangibles for those console that can not install a traditional CFW, with those being lat production PS3 Slim models and all of the SuperSlim Consoles. While this is a tremendous release and breakthrough the information behind PS3HEN has been lacking and has served more questions then answers that could be provided. This is due in the way this was delivered and presented. We paused the reporting this on the frontpage until we were pleased with the documentation. So we took it upon ourselves to get the ball rolling on a new PS3HEN F.A.Q. detailing various aspects and info that will be useful for PS3HEN user's. Also we have started forming the PS3HEN Homebrew & Plugin Compatibility Chart

    • Upgrading HEN From v1.x.x to v2.x.x

      - Users coming from v1 HEN, should remove the old /dev_hdd0/plugins/CFW/ folder, as it is no longer required for v2 HEN. This can be done by following Standard Online/Local Host Instructions below, then activating FTP with a homebrew like Irisman/Multiman, or using a file manager to delete that /dev_hdd0/plugins/CFW/ directory.

      Thats it, now reboot PS3
      Once HEN enabled from Standard Online/Local Host Method, launch Multiman/mmOS and navigate to the far left, select File Manager/mmOS.

      Now use the right thumb stick to navigate the mouse icon to PS3 Root icon in upper left corner. Double click with X to open. Navigate to dev_hdd0 and double click. Now go to plugins, and find CFW folder.

      Now move the mouse cursor to the CFW directory and press X button, then CIRCLE. Select Delete from the menu and press X again. Thats it, now reboot PS3

      2.0.2+ HEN can use online XMB update method.
      You must have HEN enabled already

      Additional Notes About PS3HEN

      • It is recommended to Disable Confirm Browser Close (TRIANGLE -> Tools -> Confirm Browser Close -> Off) for using any of the web exploits. It just saves the step of having to click the Yes confirmation on exit browser!
      • -Users experiencing 8001003A error, while installing custom packages (i.e. Offline PKG), this means dev_rewrite DID NOT mount and you need to reboot, run /html/han_flash_mount_rewrite.html again, then install package.

      So, I was playing around with the options in IRISMAN and interestingly I found a thread on installing PKGs from NTFS formatted USBs. I formatted my USB as NTFS, went into IRISMAN -> File Manager -> Pointed to the PKG -> 'Triangle' -> 'Mount and Exit'.. and the PS3 shutdown. The power LED (red light thingy) was not glowing. Pulled the plug and put it back. Booted the PS3 and had to restore FileSystem. What could be the problem?

      The IRISMAN method is slow and requires to have 2X the size of the package in free space in HDD because the file need to be copied to HDD to create the bubble.

      To install PKGs from NTFS I recommend you to copy the package files to /PKG in the NTFS device and use prepNTFS 1.19
      The package should be listed in BDVD & DVD folder of webMAN MOD. Mount the fake ISO and install normally from Package Manager.

      The shutdown in IRISMAN is due some incompatibility with PS3HEN that cause the panic of the system.

      Thanks @aldostools .. and as I have 'Package Manager' instead of 'Install Package Files', where can I find the package? PSN Downloadable Content? Standard?

      Tried to copy the actual PKG (7GB) to the USB (I was using a 2GB dummy PKG before) and it says it will take 20 mins to copy. I will just FTP the thing.

      When the package is mounted, it will be found in the root of /dev_bdvd. Install Package Files should find it in that path.

      Alternatively you can use the web http://127.0.0.1/install.ps3<path-of-the-pkg> to install pkg files or themes from any path.

      If you use PKG Linker, you can download & install it directly from the PC.

      @Imn7 could u make script offline hen enable 2.00 + mount dev_blind because the old one hen 1.02 it mount dev_blind when u enable hen and the new version didnt mount dev_blind when enable hen need to mod some file in flash and for testing instead of two steps requird?

      Does webMAN on HEN can load games from external drive? I have two games on USB drive, multiMAN loads them good but using webMAN console turns off (even no red stand-by light) or freezes.

      Fresh, clean OFW followed by HFW then applying HEN.

      Installed Multiman, all went well. FTP working well. So I'm guessing webman is not playing well with multiman.
      Tried Skate 3 in jb format. Boots up and works well. I also used multimans features to convert the jb to an ISO, this also worked just as well.
      Tried a PSX iso (bin & cue) Spyro, but that threw me an error. I think this has something to do with my bad rip. Will test more when I get the chance.

      EDIT: Retried PSX iso using a different game rip. Crash Bandicoot, all worked well.

      I tried a ps2 classic pkg. Untouched (not resigned) and I get an error code on boot. Ps2 placeholder pkg also gives same error.

      I'm sure I read somewhere that pkgs need to be resigned for HEN... But I can't quote that as I can't find the thread.
      If I do need to resign, am I resigning with habibs HAN resigner or some other resigner...?

      Haven't gotten round to testing ManaGunz or Irisman without the webman plugin.

      Tried Movian which has to be the best thing so far. My Kodi box has gone a bit messed up and I never managed to get a stable network connection to play videos so had to resort to copying videos to a hard drive and using that in the kodi box.
      Movian on the other hand works flawlessly with smb/ftp. No more fumbling with USB cables and hard drives.

      I'm obviously just scratching the surface of what's possible with HEN. And I'm working with very little information as I've never used loaders like multiman and the like and HEN is at such an early stage.

      Guys I think stock webman is best if you don’t want all the fancy features of webman mod namely ps3mapi and homebrew blocker etc

      Stock webman 1.47 is the most stable on hen with fan control also working

      Here is my experience with PS3 Net Server:
      I wanted to install a PKG from my PC. I followed the guide which was available here (psx-place). I observed a few things.
      1 - Install will be faster if you connect your PS3 directly to your PC; instead of connecting through router.
      2 - After I saved settings in webman setup (to scan LAN Games and Videos) and rebooted my PS3, I don't think I enabled HEN. I never gave a thought about it. (The fans were running at 25%. I used the CPU/RSX page and it cranked the fan to 50%; which I had set). I hopped onto my PC and I was able to mount the PKG as dev_bdvd. The notification 'PKG Loaded' flashed. I installed the PKG and the game is running fine. But, how did it install without enabling HEN (and HAN). Am I mistaken or was this supposed to happen?

      Tried V2 and haven't encountered Blackscreens yet, multiMAN and ManaGunZ working fine, but the weird problem I've found still remains, HEN only activates using my primay sixaxis, I mean the one that comes with the ps3 if I try "enable HEN" with any other it stays there and never enables, so I have to reboot console and try again, but doesn't crash or anything "Bad"

      EDIT: A small question, why everyone says to use COBRA as Payload in ManaGunZ? cuz I had to use MultiMAN as payload to make Spiderman The Edge of Time work, but that was in V1, haven't tried V2 but using Cobra gave me BlackScreens

      Is a temporal annoyance because managunz has not been updated yet to add specific HEN support
      When managunz boots it does several checks to know which firmware you are running, and the presence of other custom code running as cobra, mamba, different syscalls, etc...
      Based on that checks it shows to you different options availables to mount games
      The option mentioning cobra should appear only if you are running a cobra firmware (but HEN is not cobra)

      I think what is happening is managunz thinks you are running a cobra firmware because there are some syscalls active... lets say "it looks like cobra" (but is not cobra)
      So i guess that text string mentioning cobra needs to be modifyed for the next managunz version, and it will show a sentence mentioning HEN

      Is a minor detail, the sentence is wrong but is just a visual annoyance, in the meantime you can modify that texts in managunz as explained here: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/managunz-hen-support-feedback-needed.23891/

      but why the "Cobra"/HEN payload gave me blackscreens then? or maybe it was a "specific" game thing?
