I know you can use a dualshock 4 in OPL to play backups, and someone even posted a workaround to run boot original ps2 discs in opl by modifying the app config file, and it works, but you cannot use your ds4 with apps because there's no way to enter in the game options menu and select the DS3/4 plugin. Is there something i'm missing or it's just not possible to use the ds4 with discs at all?

Not possible at all - each app would need the D3/4 modules support and be recompiled with them.

Theoretically maybe it can be done from OPL?!
I mean if a OPL can launch games from USB\HDD\SMB, why not also from CD\DVD disks?
Setting for games can be stored on a MC in OPL folder.
Also additional features might work, e.g. GSM, cheats.

But it's a feature request that might never be accomplish. :(

Maybe in the future, with an update. Who knows
Too bad the ps2 slim has poor usb speed, otherwise i'd backup some games and play them that way

Compatibility of playing games from USB with Open PS2 Loader has improved recently, allowing FMVs to play at full speed.
