    Hello.
I tried to use nopsn youtube on latest rebug, but the ps3 freeze when i open it. Would you give me link for working nospn youtube?

Also is there alternative for Movian? On most 720p movies it says "CPU too slow". But some 720p even 1080p are playing perfect.

if i remember correctly that problems indicate that you use movian version integrated in the multiman itself, and you've updated it in movian settings.solution is to reinstall multiman and don't update it or use standalone deank's 494 CEX version.that's the best version of movian on the ps3 in my experience.ither than that there's various versions of youtube plugin,on the movian 4pda thread there's a pack of all of the plugins so you can try to find one that works for you.

also, try to reinstall noPSN youtube app.i don't remember any problems using it on CFW,but i haven't used it in a while.

YouTube on PS3 already had freezing issues, even on a stock and unmodified system.

Pick the -NoPSN.pkg appropriate for your region and install. I've used the European NoPSN package since its release and had no issues freezing or otherwise whatsoever.

Newer codecs can cause slowdown even with 720p. And most shows nowadays use this codec. Especially x265 releases will cause this issue as the PS3 simply can't handle the processing power needed.

I hit the wrong letter. It's h264 isn't supported. The dev was trying to work on it but alas rejected it as he could not get it stable and working stating it would take many men months to add support. The YouTube team has the needed man power to achieve such a feat. x265, h264 & h265 will cause stutters which a lot of groups use this format. I mean the PS3 could handle it if they had enough time and team members. But alas it's pretty much a one man show. My crappy 1st Gen FireTV can do this which is much weaker then the PS3 but also doesn't have the same amount of overhead and a much larger group following then the PS3.

He was talking about Movian, not YouTube. He said that since Movian is only developed by a single person and so getting other codecs to work within its environment would be lot of work compared to if YouTube wanted to implement it. For the record, I believe videos uploaded to YouTube are converted into a certain format before they are published. The point being though, YouTube would have the manpower to implement something like efficient h264 support as opposed to a single independent homebrew developer. :)

excuse if i'm being dumb but i don't see the point of talking about movian and codecs if the thread is about youtube and playing youtube on the ps3.

in my experience there's two ways without PSN and regular app:

    1) noPSN version of the same app that i personally didn't had any issues whatsoever.i did try 1080p and 720p and standard 4k 60hz clip of wildlife (obviously in 1080p and 720) and i think unbox therapy videos and all played fine.

    2) YT plugin for movian.now, there's various floating the net and i can't remember what exact one i've used but i think i've used one from that 4pda pack and it worked again fine at everything i've throw at it (1080p,720p).

again,i must admit i've messed up with that in a while so i don't know if youtube did change format especially to x265 or some other more modern codec but i really doubt they did and i would be very interested to hear about it and how and why if somebody knows.

I talking about Movian as the OP was read the first post please. He was asking about YouTube and a secondary question about Movian.

And as to why YouTube can handle such files and the PS3 can't is some of the work is done server side via YouTube team via transcoding. So the PS3 doesn't have to process it all and with a much larger dev team over just one they can get so much more done.

none taken, there's no reason to.it is unconventionally worded but he's clearly referring about video files in general.

my experience about that is that movian on ps3 is capable of everything besides hevc/x265.h264 mostly is fine, depends on the bitrate.

stock video player is capable in less,.mkv, some more uncommon coded .avi and h264...my recommendation is rather than transferring the videos to the ps3 you should try to stream it directly from the movian itself and stay away from hevc, that way you'll find out if it will play fine or not.most stuff can be found once you've installed proper plugins, and how to do that i don't think that can be discussed on this forum. :)
