Hi, did you use an official OFW PS3UPDAT.PUP file? If that's the case, try replacing it with an HFW version. Not sure it'll help, just taking a wild guess !!!

Try installing a HFW (4.92.1) and tell me if it change anything. I hope your PS3 won't freeze when installing the HFW...

What version are you on? Did you try upgrading? If not, give it a shot. If I were you, I’d install a CFW and try downgrading just to see if it helps but be careful, it can be risky.
