@bguerville forgive my ignorance, but what is a stage 2 swap?

I've already taken some of the preliminary steps using bgtoolset to backup my flash memory and i used PyPS3checker and the dump wqs good no warnings and no errors. I'm following Mr Mario's guide and it is, so far, running without any hiccups.

PS3 modding n00b here. Previously I've been into wii, PSP, and PS Vita modding. I love my vita. Been wanting to mod the old PS3 for a while and now I'm finding I have a few questions before jumping in.

So I've been doing some of digging and reading(with the little free time I have), but since I'm a total n00b to modding PS3 I'm seeking input from those out there with more knowledge than me on what CFW would be best to use. My PS3 that I've had forever is a CECHG01. I'm leaning towards Rebug...
