PS3 Frankenstein PHAT PS3: CECHA with 40nm RSX

I always use ground spring. And I was talking about ripple, not noise, sorry for my mistake. I you go back to TOKINs thread, you'll see that my CELL voltage has this sinusoidal shape periodically, that squeept identified as the sign of bad TOKINs. And the PS3 still works fine.

You can try to source BD3504FVM to replace VDDR controller instead.

BTW, note squeept's answer regarding state of my TOKINs. He says that he saw less noisy TOKINs causing problems. I think this indirectly confirms that Sony lowered PWRGOOD signal thresholds for both CELL and RSX VRMs on refurbished mobos.

And here is your VDDR from Sony-refurbished Frankenstein. So it's 0.95V and matches RSX voltage. MOSFET is the same as on stock - SI4688DY. So the difference is only in VDDR controller, which is BD3504FVM, and it's resistors. Feel free to choose any R1/R2/R1'/R2' values that produces...

PS3 Frankenstein PHAT PS3: CECHA with 40nm RSX

It looks like I've measured resistors from the wrong VRM, lol. It was CELL/BE VRM controller, IC6103, not the IC6201. So here is correct one, IC6201, RSX VRM controller: But again, it's hard to measure resistors value. And what is interesting, measured resistance is the same as for CELL/BE...

PS3 Frankenstein PHAT PS3: CECHA with 40nm RSX

Hello guys! I've posted pictures and measurements for voltage divider at GSCLKI and VDDR "official" voltmod on a separate thread: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/research-experimental-nec-tokin-capacitors-replacement-ylod.25260/page-213#post-311094 and...

    PS3 (Research/Experimental) - NEC/TOKIN Capacitors Replacement - YLOD

Yeah, I'm also glad that I'm still breathing with all that COVID stuff around. Anyway, I think that measurements for VDDR are not correct, because of proximity of BD3504FVM and other components. R6219 (1) is R2' R2614 (2) is R1' R6222 (5) is R2 R6216 (6) is R1 From the photo it is clear that...

    PS3 (Research/Experimental) - NEC/TOKIN Capacitors Replacement - YLOD

It was a busy week, sorry for the delay. Nevertheless, I'm back with kind-of-hi-res photos of needed spots. And measurements. Voltage divider: R2001 - gone R2002 - 15.11 kΩ R2002 is not black, it's a deep shade of blue, but certainly not light blue like two resistors below. VDDR: 1.237...

Sure. I'll make them next week when I'm back home.

    PS3 (Research/Experimental) - NEC/TOKIN Capacitors Replacement - YLOD

Hello, guys! Long time, no see! I've been fiddling around with my Frankenstein CECHA (the one with 40 nm RSX) and decided to test RSX/CELL voltages with a scope, to see if TOKINs are alright. Note that it's been almost two years since I bought it and reflowed failing RSX, so it actually works...

PS3 Frankenstein PHAT PS3: CECHA with 40nm RSX

Is it possible to simply switch CXR SYSCON chips, do they have any per-console data? If it is possible, than at least we will be able to use 65nm RSX on BC Phats with DIA-001 and DIA-002 SYSCONs.

PS3 Frankenstein PHAT PS3: CECHA with 40nm RSX

@M4j0r, assuming that there are no other changes from Sony, how can SYSCON version be upgraded on ordinary PS3? As I understand, now that we have SYSCON decryption keys, it is possible to make a homebrew SYSCON patch and install it with CFW. Is it possible to make a patch that will upgrade Phat...

    @ElGris, this will do, thanks!

PS3 Frankenstein PHAT PS3: CECHA with 40nm RSX

Well, yes, topside photo is ok actually. So I'm looking for the COK-001 backside photo of the same quality.

PS3 Frankenstein PHAT PS3: CECHA with 40nm RSX

I've already seen the photos on this wiki. Unfortunately, they are not of great quality for my purpose (especially COK-001 backside). You see, I'm looking for the things like missing or awkwardly placed SMD components and such. Things similar to the resistor I've already found. I'll check this...
