I would recommend to replace the thermal paste and make sure it's kept in a well ventilated place. Usually installing a cfw (unless perhaps the OC mod) does not affect temps that much, if at all. If you know your way around the PS3 good enough, a delid of the CPU and replacing the paste there...

My recommendation would be: 1. Clean it up and replace the thermal paste with MX-4. 2. Upgrade the HDD. 3. Install Evilnat 4.88 CFW. 4. Install WebmanMod. 5. Install Multiman 6. Use dynamic fan control (i.e syscon) if possible. 7. Keep the console in an open space (not insade a cabinet etc.)...

Been running 4.88 OC for about a week now on my Slim. No crazy cooling mods (a few holes over the fan and perforated bottom) and fan speed 40%. So far keeping temps around 62-65°C on both CELL and RSX. I have to say it's a rather neat thing.

Thank you for the answers. Been using 4.88.22 Evilnat since release since 4.89 was broken, but saw some posts about the modified Rebug 4.84.2 with Cobra 8.3. Wanted the option to switch and also add it to my CFW collection for preserving. As for 4.89 I'll keep clear of it, until a fixed...

Is this still in Beta? Been searching for it since I saw the post about @Evilnat making it, but I can't seem to find it, no matter how much I look. Also: What's the status for homebrew on 4.89? Are everything good to go, or do some devs still need to update?

That works great. So I guess they are compatible. Tested both WiFi and ETH and they both work great. Seems to be restricted to that particular app.

I'll give it a go. Is there an alternative to this app? Maybe I'll have to copy the game folder to my PC..

So I can connect to my PS3 with Filezilla, webbrowser etc.. Everything runs great. But this specific app does not work.

gameDATA is not enabled. Tried using wmm, but it still hangs. Even faster this time. Could it be related to the amount of games installed?

I'll have a go when I get back home and report back.
