no sound

I got the playstation 2 fat silver model SCPH-50004 PAL. One friend gave me his official memory card, with FMCB in it, which he uses regurarly without a problem. When I put it in my PS2, I get no sound and a black screen of my PS2 output. But when I power it on without this memory card, it boots...
