softmodding

I'm using a seagate 4TB external HDD to play my games on my softmod PS2, but I was playing Tales of the Abyss, and getting some slowdowns/lagging on certain cutscenes. Do i need to use a different method of loading my games to fix this? How hard would it be to fix this?

Sorry this took awhile, but I've started modding it using the tape, tissue, and straw mod to boot FORTUNA, but I've ran into a problem: Where does the tape go? It just came like this.
