PS3HEN Advice needed (ps3 fan )

Hi my PS3 has an annoying wine sound from the fan it's quite high pitch it's not overheating as Ive checked rsx and CPU temp and they are fine.

I had a slim model doing this but my superslim is now doing it.

Long story short could anybody please give advice on how to quieten the noise or do I require a fan replacement or maybe a repair job?

If you use webMAN MOD, go to /setup.ps3 and change the fan settings. e.g. select SYSCON and save.
You can delete /dev_hdd0/tmp/wm_config.bin and reboot to restore the default settings.

If the problem persists, I suggest that monitor your temperature and fan settings to determine if you need to change the fan or not. Usually it's just a bad setting.

It's possible the RSX and CPU temp are only fine because of the loud fan. The system dynamically adjusts the fan speed according to the chips' temperature. If it suddenly got loud and you haven't done any config changes that could explain that (e.g. just installed Webman) it's likely the system needs to increase the fan speed to that point to prevent overheating otherwise. Even though it's a slim model replacing the thermal paste might be worth considering.
