Idk if they being hacked by a RUSSIAN hacker is making people go to a site that sells consoles, parts for consoles etc and see no page regarding bg tool set etc.

Any confirmation on the dev or creator of the site?

It's ferrari body on a golf cart , that is best way to describe the release from that site.

Its dangerous to use.

I do think its bad to mention the site URL and also good.
but yea usually when i would see fake videos on youtube and have to warn i would take a screenshot of it, That way user is aware and also then they are not benefiting from the views.

Here in this case a bit different then just a video. That forum is really putting out a dangerous thing and knowingly doing it, i think the long term affects of their reputation and trust is what they should really worry about. They have a chance to right the ship but doubtful they will or they would not of done it the way in the first place.

Efit:
change thread title, they are not advising you to go to suspect site, i think they are just bringing light to who did it. The message ADVISES NOT TO USE IT.. l

The best way to get traffic to a site is to tell people that DON'T go to that URL.

LOL that message in ps3xploit has the opposite effect... I would remove that FREE advertisement to the other site.

I agree here, the current message is having a couple of unintended effects.

1. Scaring end-users into thinking their data or consoles are compromised, or that they will get hacked just for visiting the PS3Xploit site. I've had several interactions relating to this and have had to say multiple times the PS3Xploit site is fine.

2. Giving a bit of a Streisand effect to another site that is NOT recommended to visit.

I'm not sure who edits the front-end messages of the main site (@esc0rtd3w or @bguerville) but I'd like to make a suggestion to the message if you all don't mind? Of course it would have to be adjusted appropriately, but maybe something like this is better?

"The only place to find the official BG Toolset is on the PS3Xploit site! Any other websites hosting BG Toolset are unofficial mirrors and can permanently brick your PS3!"

@esc0rtd3w handles the .com site so it was him.

It is was bad enough that they released HFW/HEN before official update, but that least HEN was open source...NO ONE has permission to use the toolset code! It can only be called theft!

Shame! Shame! Shame!

EDIT:
just to clarify, no site was hacked. some of the files were posted somewhere by someone else (without instructions to host). these guys just found that, copy, paste, edited the donation links, and hosted it. the version they have is not the latest, does not contain official upgrade (file manager, xregistry, etc) and contains bugs that are already fixed in the next official version. in the end, they did not hack anything. if they were real hackers, one of them would not have posted here asking for the HEN source code that was on Github for months by that time. no, they not hackers, just hacks themselves.

thanks for the suggestion. It has been edited!

I appreciate you all for clearing this up I personally do not want to scare anyone of thinking their system has been compromised, my goal here was just to get answers because i didn't want anyone to be tricked into visiting a site that can be potentially dangerous and though it has met that goal, I appreciate the hard work the staff civily discussed this situation in a hope that it ma help the owner of the site ps3xploit resolve these issues.

I have nothing more to say about this situation but hopefully whatever solution you guys came up with is a better one then I would of posted.
