PS3 [Update: SSL issue Resolved} BG Toolset SSL Issues (80710A06 Error) (July 2024)

but perhaps this time gives the masses, as you called them, a newfound respect for the devs who've made it as easy as they have. it's almost to the point where the console hacks itself in terms of ease, for just about every console out there.
Doubtful, very. The general ps3 consumer will never come to this website or care who developed the exploit. Just aslong as it works. Its up to us to encourage the devs to continue their amazing dedication and hardwork.

Never mentioned that they where too difficult for me, sir! I had said, its too difficult for the mass. Us, in these forums are much more knowledgeable then the average ps3 user looking to mod their console. If we all just stick to using workarounds, the general mass will suffer and Devs wont feel the need to fix their exploit if everyone just considering the workarounds the new norm.

Hacking a console is not for the average user either. If you want to hack your console, you ought to know the basics of the exploits available, how to setup the environment (if required), etc. That's why there are tons of tutorials on the Internet, whether they are plain, step-by-step written guides or on video.

Workarounds should be temporary. But if they become permanent, that's the way it will be from now on. The general mass won't suffer because those who want to hack their consoles must follow the instructions. Not always everything will be fully automatic, point and click stuff. If people are lazy and not willing to get dirty, then console hacking is not for them.

And devs can do whatever they want with their work, regardless of the context of the situation or if workarounds are delivered in the meantime. If they want to try fixing it, they will. If not, they won't.

Luckily, there is an easy solution for the masses to hack their consoles: USE HEN!.

If anyone wants to help, I need some testing done to confirm SSL compatibility on lower firmware versions.. It would spare esc0 the extra work of having to downgrade and test that stuff at the weekend..

In short I need a handful of people to load the Toolset on any ps3 console running a firmware version between 4.10 and 4.75.

Use the https URL ONLY (https://www.ps3toolset.com) and post here the firmware version and whether you got a 0x8xxxxxxx error in the browser or not.

Thanks.

Great work on bringing it back, love to see it, and thank you!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe these days most of those older firmwares can't load the Toolset or much of anything SSL related due to the firmwares themselves having outdated/incompatible certs? Although I believe funny enough, some folks have been able to use those older firmwares with their own VPS or Proxy setup.

Tested 4.70 on a spare CECHG (thru QA flag downgrade) and the same happens - without proxy it'll error out with the 80710a06, with NiQ's guide it loads the toolset fine.

I had a faint hope to get better legacy support because the new certificate is cross signed with GlobalSign Root CA R1 and that specific root certificate can be found in ca22.cer which afaik must have been included since 4.10..???
If you export the root certificate from an old pc browser, choosing base64 format, you will basically find the ca22.cer..

Unfortunately I must be missing something somehow because it doesn't seem to work under 4.82..

In theory the new certificate type should remain ps3 compatible for the next 4 or 5 years at least, no more hassle.. well, I hope so..

Then people would need to update to 4.82+ before patching, that's just a mild inconvenience at this point. If they really want an older CFW they can QA flag and downgrade later. I don't think you need to spend so much precious time on something that has such low impact. Your work is truly amazing as it is. Otsukarasama!

I guess the only scenario where it could be useful to have more FWs support would be if you have a 4.xx PS3 with a broken BD drive or any other issue that would make it impossible to update to OFW 4.82+ first.

but in a normal scenario (with a fully working PS3) I guess a quick OFW update to 4.82 is nothing critical

So according to aldostools you can replace webrender_plugin.sprx with 4.82 OFW would that expose hypervisor access potentially on a superslim model etc or does the file manager do the exploiting capability? @bguerville @esc0rtd3w
just curious as i believe maybe it can be done on 4.91 OFW?
