PS3 Does reverting to OFW make the ps3 100% safe again?

I installed CFW to do some things and look around, and now I'd like to return the PS3 to OFW. Will this be enough to make the console 100% safe again for PSN? I have saves, and trophies I'd like to sync, so I want to avoid wiping the HDD.

No one knows what Sony looks at, but tbh, aside from playing certain games, like black ops 2, GTA v, destiny, you kinda have to try to get banned on the PS3 anymore. You're probably fine. However, I'm sure Sony has gotten smarter with the latter systems, so I wouldn't use an account you care about with saves, trophies, or especially purchases.

You will also need to factory reset it. Certain games (CoD BO2, all later CoDs, Destiny) might find leftover files if the HDD is not reformatted.

Before you will return, make copy of NAND/NOR, ERK and IDPS. And eventually your data.

Answering your question: yes, but if you clean also homebrew traces on disk. Easiest way is:
  1. Cut off PS3 from network.
  2. Turn on PS3 in recovery mode and choose Restore PS3 System (this will wipe out xRegistry.sys and HDD)
  3. Turn on PS3 in recovery mode and install OFW. Twice in a row.
That way you will end with clean console.

If you want to keep user data, then You need to avoid Step 2 and instead of that, by hand remove evry trace of homebrew. Every file made by any homebrew, at the end pushlists and file manager/ftp server app.

Syscon will store the lv0/lv1 hashes of the latest installed firmware versions in the snvs section. I can't remember how many entries there are, but make sure to install different OFW versions to overwrite any possible MFW entries.

Maybe try PS3 HEN instead. That way you can enable it when you want to use homebrew applications and not enable it when you want to log onto PSN. Best of both worlds IMO.

If you restore factory settings that should wipe the CFW and return everything backto normal (as explained above by Berion)

i spend like 10,000 plus dollars on ***PlayStation Store*** being a legit user for years before i hacked my vita and Ps3 so i'm fine i never did play my vita much online same for the PS3 Heck i even went into the PSN store on my CFW PS3 and download some of my plus games on it. not on the new CFW yet. also i'm not a big fan games that trend a lot. (GTA COD etc) IMO i don't think sony goes after big spenders on old systems. if you hack a PS4/PS5 and do this your *** is going be grass that's for sure.

Sony don't give a shit about how much you put money in their pocket. Sorry but many people already experienced that. ;)
