PS2 FreeMcboot from HDD won't start

I've been following a video guide on getting FreeMCboot to start from my PS2's internal HDD. I followed all the steps and managed to get it all installed on my HDD. However, whenever I try to start my PS2 now it gets past the PSX logo but gets stuck at the white dots.

Any idea how I can fix this?

The whole thread makes ZERO sense...!

FMCB is not for HDD in the first place - like the name implies - but for MC!

You did not tell us either, WHICH (probably stupid) video you have followed. If it's anything with "image writing", it is TRASH from some moron who doesn't know what he is talking about.

You just could wrote step by step what you did
instead of now reading in your mind what guide did you follow.

Proper and easiest procedure:
1. write disk image (__mbr) with wLE kHn
2. when it boots on PS2, go to HDD Manager and format HDD
3. go to mass (USB) and start FMCB/FHDB Installer 1.966

Or even easier, use PS2HDH. ;)

I've always wondered if it was ok to skip the disk image writing step if you already had the installer for FreeMC/HDboot on a USB stick.

E.g., boot into FreeMCboot, launch wLaunchELF, and then use the HDformatting tool in wLaunchELF to format the drive.

Is that skipping steps or?

I'm still a n00b, so I need to check out PS2HDH, too!

Purpose of writing disk image with wLE is only to start wLE because it is one of many attack vectors (cheapest ;]). If you have another, You don't need doing that but directly start installer.
