Hi, I'm trying to learn how to repair consoles and for that purpose I've acquired a PS3 Slim which turns off automatically around 40 seconds after turning it on (triple beep and red light blinking). There's no A/V output during that time. I know that the console has been opened before, but I don't know what has been done to it.
I connected to the syscon (sherwood) and this is what I got:

I found it strange that the error log didn't show any errors, but the bringup command shows that 2002 error. From what I researched online, it could be faulty RAM chips or a broken connection between the CPU and RAM, because of broken solder joints, for example. Is this information correct? Can you help me in understanding what should I do to pinpoint the root cause of the problem?

Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure if this helps, but I had a very similar case when doing a Frankenstein - the console behaved almost exactly the same: quick shutdown, no video output, and basically empty Syscon logs.

In my case it turned out the RSX had a short. Even though there were no classic error entries in the logs, the console still ended up in a YLOD condition.

Quick question: are you getting a full YLOD (yellow light + 3 beeps), or just a red blinking light after it shuts down?
