2nd forum post today. Wohooo!

I am on a small team of people working to restore the online features with TF2 on the PS3. I am not the lead of the project, but I am posting this for them. We have a .self file that allows us to get into the game, but (from what I can tell, haven't fully tried it yet, and the results that are being sent aren't that clear) it will crash when you try to boot into the game on real hardware. Strangely, it works fine on RPCS3, but we don't know what the issue is. If anyone is interested in helping out, reply to this thread and I will gladly send out a Discord invite.

I don't know much. But I know some, if not most, patches won't work on original hardware. I went deeper trying to find some memory addresses related to fps cap, AA, motion blur… Patches that were already found/created and functional on RPCS3. And even though some patches says it does things without the use of RPCS3 tools (which makes us believe it would work on the PS3) It doesn't, or we didn't find a way yet

As I started to test some games I mistakenly thought patches with data type be32 were the only ones to work on the original hardware. As I was having trouble to find another data types like be16 which would actually patch something. I dug even deeper and started messing around with HEX editors and .bin, .self decrypting and all… until one day I figured out some of the HEX values we encounter opening Webman mod's PS3MAPI and diving into a game memory addresses while playing it, won't be found inside its eboot.bin or .self file. More on that on this thread.

Idk if you guys will have to do any patching or patching research for this. Your best goal is to look for ps3 games that had their servers back by the community. Maybe someone with this knowledge will reply here, but if not try contacting @Evilnat. His CFW might have helped with other server revivals. Considering that contact Valve to help you on this matter, would be impossible.

There is a group called psoneonline trying to revive some other online servers, some say it is other games servers being revived, our best hope to learn more about from looking the way these games packet exchange works.

I hope it help you guys somehow.
