io... PS3 murderer.... try this wave twisty :-p.... and yes it works I tesed it on mine... but don't blame me if your PS3 jumps up and stabs you for revenge for using knives on other PS3's after you install it....:-p:D

I assume you will know how to install this lol :-p.... just check and make sure the zip file reads "PS3~dev_blind.zip" I have uploaded zips before and for some reason the ~ got changed to - after people have downloaded them which breaks the self install function.

Any tweaks needed let me know as I made this from scatch....

It's possible to remove the sparkles ?

Can i use it ?

This wave is a perminant all black background and will not change from month to month.

Yes you can, when you download it rename the blind part of the zip to rewrite so it looks like this PS3~dev_rewrite.zip. The put it on a USB drive. Then go into MultiMAN:

Next find the ' MultiMAN ' or ' mmCM ' column next to the ' Settings ' column and select ' File Manager/mmCM '.

Once in the File Manager select ' PS3 Root ' in the top left hand corner of the screen.

In the window find and select the USB port you have inserted the Flash Drive into. If you have no other USB devices inserted then it will be the only one to appear " dev_usb* ".

Next open ' PS3-dev_rewrite.zip ' and you should get a message ' Do you wish to Install zip? ' select ' Yes '.

Next select the Icon in the bottom left hand corner on the task-bar and select ' Restart ' to re-start your PlayStation 3.

It's possible to remove the sparkles ?

You can do this from the XMB go to theme settings>background> set to classic.

:joyous:Thanks but i already knew how to install the waves lol. When I asked if it is possible to remove the sparkles, I was not very specific, my intention was, and is it possible to remove the sparkles from the lines.qrc file, because even if I choose the "Classic" theme it will only be XMB, but on the screen of choosing users, the sparkles are there ... Not if if you get my point :D:-p

Yeah I should be able to remove the sparks, this was just a first test to get it original. Like colour, wave luminesence, higlighting and stuff. The thing with making waves is you have to make small corrections>complie/pack the wave> encrypt it then test it. and this has to be done many, many times. Making to many drastic alterations just to see what happens acn softbrick your PS3. I did this once and I was forced to do a system restore to undo it as it caused a ton of other propblems as well lol.

So it takes a bit of time to get them perfect. With two people giving me feedback I then will know where to make the alterations. So remove sparks for the xmb will be one of them, just need to make sure they say for the gameboot as they are part of it.

Once I have it decent I will add it to this gameboot resource as an extra option fo originallity. As the other ways I have made are not in anyway original lol. They have coloured coldboot waves, coloured gameboot waves> green and bue looks awesome on black for the game boot.

Wow, I didn't know it was so much work lol, thanks for all that. Apparently, it looks like the gameboot animation is the same as the sparkles, but that may not be true, just checking this file to find out.
I liked the idea of coldboots and colorful gameboots :)

If you like colourfull then try this one, its the one I use on my CFW PS3's and my HEN PS3. The Red on the coldboot is because I use REBUG, plus is changes the way the coldboot is displayed slightly. Its the same as the one above but adds colour to the coldboot and gameboot waves.

I can change them to whatever color people want and will be adding a collection of these to each gameboot resource for cutomization when I get round to making them all.

Noice, its works flawlessly, the luminance, all of it looks exactly like ive envisioned, many thanks mate.

Btw i would also be interested if Sparkles can be removed in they're entirety, even when settings the wave to Original or Classic, this is because its a bit off seeing the sparkles for a brief moment, but if i am planning to build a CFW based on the pre-3.00 era, its nice upon start up being just a flat wave, no sparkles, but thats not necessary at the moment, but i do appreciate all the developer help i can get, thanks again mate [emoji23][emoji106]

Have you tryed to change the alpha of particles to zero ?
In https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Lines.qrc#PARTICLES.mnu
Code:
global alpha:float:1
Or/and in https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Lines.qrc#PARTICLES_SPE.mnu
Code:
global alpha:float:-0.555603

Look at this table, there are 4 "enviroments" (named: black, coldboot1, coldboot2, and gameboot4) where the particles have an alpha of zero in the same way im suggesting to do :encouragement:
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Lines.qrc#MNU_Override_Settings

-------------------
Btw @Danxx444 the reason why the particles keeps appearing in the user selector screen (and probably other enviroments) even after you disabled it in [XMB] > [settings] > [Theme Settings]
Is because the theme settings belongs to the user profile... before you select the user are applyed the default settings (common for all users)

So i guess the only way to remove them completly is how i mentioned, by making them transparent in all the enviroments
Maybe there is a better attribute to disable them (instead of the alpha i suggested) but dunno, i guess is going to work because the official firmware does it this way
Is a bit retarded because the particles are still there... is just we cant see them when the firmware makes them transparent :D

*The definitive way to disable them fully is to replace the file particles.elf (located inside lines.qrc), is actually an executable program and runs in a SPU inside CELL

No not yet, just wanted some feed back on the way the actual wave looked before I moved onto disabling the sparks on certain areas. For the original it was disabled until the gameboot irrc which is gameboot2 in the override settings.

Yeah this will be the only way to disable them, inside the lines.qrc. Even if you disable them for the XMB the lines.qrc will still enable them where ever they are hardcoded to appear outside of where this option has control such as the user select screen if you have multiple profiles on your PS3 as its outside of the control of this option.

Btw, i reminded a weird experiment i imagined (but never tryed it). Inside lines.qrc there are 2 elfs
-spline.elf (the wave)
-particles.elf (the particles)

The idea is to make a copy of spline.elf... and rename it (or rebuild/resign) as particles.elf... then build lines.qrc with them
The firmware is going to load both as 2 separated programs... but the code inside is the same
This way you have double waves \o/

This reminds me of something I did trying to combine good parts of old ways with new... me PS3 had an emotional break down and went nuts and it nearly bricked my system. Even recovery mode refused to work correctly and crashed with every option lol. Finally after selecting restore PS3 about 3 times in a row with consecutive crashes at about 30% it reset the PS3 properly lol, I was really luck that day as my E3 Flasher was busted and needed a new one.

That would be cool to do... replace the sparks with more waves, imagine the colour combos/effects you could get with that... true rainbow effect waves and such.

Hmm, never thought in it but i guess yes, having 2 waves (both using the same colors) displayed together are going to result in new different colors, because are going to overlap in different points with different alpha values
As exmple, if there is some point where is overlapped red (from wave1) on top of green (from wave2) is going to be displayed as yellow

And for the geometry of them... im guessing the algorithms that generates them are using a few "random" values... so the fact that are exactly the same code doesnt means that are going to be overlapped perfectly... my guess is are going to have different geometry

*same stuff for the particles.elf btw... if the trick works you can have 2 particles "emiters" and the total amount of particles should be around the double
