PS3 freeze when open bguerville's PS3 Toolset

Hi to all, I will ask a little help to understand how to resolve one of my trouble...
I explain what's happen:
I've two PS3, the first is Superslim black CECH 4004C FW 4.86(1), not CWF red cross, but it' works very good for the HEN mod..etc etc.
The second is a PS3 Slim White CECH-3004B
  • PS3 Model: CECH-3004B
  • Firmware Version: 4.86
  • IDPS Is Masked: Don't know
  • Have Original Dump: Not possible
  • Dump 1 URL: -
  • Have Patched Dump: No for the reason explained below
  • Dump 2 URL: No for the reason explained below
  • System Boots To XMB: Yes, regularly and fine
  • System Boots To Recovery: Yes
  • Firmware Version Displayed In Recovery: [Where in can see it]
  • Minimum Firmware Version Displayed In Toolset: Don't show, freeze PS3 but MinVerCheck say 3.60
  • Disc In Drive: Tried with and without, first time forgot the disk in..removed next try
PS3 White have this problem, when I go to the ps3xploit site, I see the first black page, logo links but when I go in the bguerville's PS3 Toolset the console in frozen after 5/6 sec, no other advice, I must view in the upper right corner the red/yellow/green bubbles, but nothing to do the background doesn't move (wave and sparkle) cursor not move, of course, I must press the power button to power off, and restart, at the boot start the hdd scan for the, probably, corruption data.
I've, before goto the site xpl, clear CACHE-COOKIES-SEARCH DATA-INFO AUTH, make a default page blank,.
I've one theme active, not the default XMB, upgraded the FW from 4.82 to 4.86 from the S server because with FW4.82 have the same problem, I think update for eliminating the doubt about incompatibility 4.82-4.86.

Any suggest? or things to do...

I'm sure if I make the procedure with pen drive will go fine, but is for safety reasons make backup NAND/NOR.

Thank You in advance for help.
Sorry for the log post, I've descript too much possible My situation.

You can install CFW only, If the Min.FW version is 3.56 or below. Otherwise, you can use ps3HEN exploit.

but is for safety reasons make backup NAND/NOR.
You can also backup your Nand/Nor using Ps3xploit Flash Dumper ( last supported FW 4.85)

As for the Toolset's freezing issue, I have no idea why it freezes.

@Sulfvr the old flash dumper does not work with 4.86 so bgtoolset is the only method. (the old tool could probably be updated but it is not as safe as bgtoolset)

@Anto2k1 you can use HEN to run rebug toolbox and try to get a dump with it.

that PS3 model is not compatible with CFW.
Yes, I know this!! not compatible with CFW, My problem is PS3 frozen on xploit page...
Thanks for the interest.

Thanks for correcting me. I should have checked the supported version.

Rebug Toolbox on HEN?!?! Thought its not safe on HEN.

Since You didn't properly specify your reason for using it, we thought, you are trying to JB your un-supported console.

I've, before goto the site xpl, clear CACHE-COOKIES-SEARCH DATA-INFO AUTH, make a default page blank,.
You just need to do this as a preparation before using the toolset for first time, but after you initiate the toolset you should not do it again, because the toolset needs to store some info in the cookies to keep a record of what the toolset did "in between sessions" (incase you reboot the PS3)

If you still have problems try to create a new user account (an offline account, in XMB), then run the toolset with that account. Usually this fixes all the rare/weird/unknown problems

Additionally you could enter recovery menu and use the options "restore filesystem" and "rebuild database", is not really a requirement, but mostly incase there is some problem with them... is better to fix the problems before doing something related with hacking

And disabling the theme settings is not going to change much, but this way you have less process running (the animation with the wave and sparks are like programs)

An alternative to do a flash dump is to use an option available in the filemanager inside ManaGunZ :)
I never tryed it, but i guess the option appears when you click in triangle button (options) on top of dev_flash icon (or any other dev_flash* icon)

And remember to check the dump in PC with pyps3checker tool to verify that everything is correct in it

You can also dump flash using Multiman;
Connect your Fat32 USB Drive to the rightmost usb port.
  1. Goto multiman's File manager.
  2. Select a file (any file, it doesn't matter) by pressing :but x:, then press :but cir: and select "Open in Hex Viewer".
  3. Once in hex viewer, press :but select:, then press :but start:
  4. You will get a message asking to "Export GameOS LV2 memory", select NO.
  5. "Export HV LV1 memory", select NO.
  6. "Export Flash memory to file", select YES.
  7. It will dump your NAND/NOR to USB drive.
  8. Verify your dump.

Hi ...but on this PS3, i don't have ay kind of mod..HEN or CFW (not available)

A
AFAIK, there is no way to dump a flash other than bgtoolset (other tools aren't up-to-date). Try accessing it again, it may work this time.

Have you tried doing this? It fixes most of the known issues, may fix your's too.

If it still freezes, you can hack your console temporarily for the purpose of dumping Flash.

Bgtoolset also works on HFW. Just install HFW 4.86 and then goto the toolset's page again to check if it still freezes or not.

Now, after trying all of that, your last option is to install HEN, Install Managunz/Multiman and do the trick we mentioned above.

Note: you can revert back to official firmware anytime by installing OFW update over it.
