If you upgrade to 4.91 you cannot downgrade to previous versions. Although this feature is rarely needed by PS3HEN users.

Just done modding a PS3 SS with HEN and 4.91 HFW, working just fine for games downloaded from PKGi, but for whatever reason most homebrew apps will give a black screen no matter what...
Movian, IrisMan or MultiMan or ManaGunz, each of them last version of course.
ApolloSave and Pkgi are the only ones working (sometimes these two also launch on black screen, but rarely).
Anyone knows how to fix this ? Or is it simply HEN unstable ?

Maybe there is something wrong with your HDD?
Did you test it?
S.M.A.R.T. log will be nice.

Last week I installed 4.91 HFW with HEN v3.3.0 on CECH-3004 and except of webMAN mod everything was fine.
I mean I did not have an issue with multiMAN v4.91, Movian v7.0.111.

However my problem with webMAN mod was fixed after installing HEN_Installer_3.3.1--RC3:

Does your bluray drive work? Black screen on homebrew happens when BD fails.

Edit: You can try using debug mode of HEN and get a socat log. You activate debug mode via HFW Tools Development menu. Once rebooted, you can use LAN to capture log to PC.
 
Ok so, SMART is fine and it's 1TB Drive from Toshiba 5400RPM.
Blu-Ray is also fine, it reads discs with no issues at all !
Right now, after one full restart, MultiMan worked, i guess i'll enable HEN logs and see what's going on..

EDIT : Forgot to mention, i had the two usb ports busy, one with a controller and another with a usb stick, i have removed them, and upon next restart multiman worked
 
Was there anything on USB stick that could have interfered? Multiman wasn't loading with USB in port? What about other homebrew? Same? Works with nothing in USB?

I have tested on all versions 4.80 - 4.92. The changes have been pushed to github, and the auto installer and normal installer have been updated on server, and are live.

The OP is updated with new links and the website will be updated shortly.

For anyone that has the auto update option active in PS3HEN will automatically receive the new update, others will have to update manually.

I find, that multiman irisman etc, require install, then delete, then reinstall, then PS3 reboot. Seems to stop the black screens being less frequent or not at all.
 
Hi, i am having an issue with installing hen.

i am using a superslim model . what heppen is previous hen was installed but not being enabled . so i installed official firmware then installed again the latest hfw 4.92.1 . whenever i try install hen installer using the alternative method . my ps3 freezes.

If you installed OFW 4.92 first, you won't be able to install HFW 4.92.1 to load hen, hence the error, you'll most likely have to wait for 4.93, it's never good to install OFW if you plan on keeping hen, as unlike custom firmware models, you can't just flash back & have to wait for new firmware drops from the devs.

try to install HFW on Recovery mode

HFW can be installed on the top of any firmware, including OFW.

HFW is basically a OFW.

Use the auto hen method, if it freezes, try creating a new user and installing hen from there.

I have this problem on my PS3 when i want install the HEN :

HTTP Statut Codes: 404

Just to know, i use the site ps3exploit and my local file (my phone), all give me samething...
