Hi there is a question I need to ask
Question can you play backup ps1 and ps2 games on ps2 slim console that has free Mc boot
i made some backup ps1 and ps2 games onto some blank cd-r and dvd-r but my ps2 slim does not read them it just says something like please insert a ps1 or ps2 game disc it brings up a red screen.
Is there something I have done wrong I thought that free mc boot could boot up backup ps2 games.
Do you maybe have to use some type of software to get the backup games to work. How do you get the ps2 console to read backup games like a ps1 and ps2 original games you put them in the console and the games come up. So how can you do this with backup games do you have to patch the games I have heard that you use esr patcher but I am not sure about that. I have also read on other sites that you use a software called alcohol 120 percent and it burns them to disc and the ps2 console reads them but I have never used this software so I don't know any help would be great

It depends on what model slim. Buy since you're running FMCB, I guess you have a 70-75k model.

You can run backup PSX games of the same region as the console with mechapwn. If it's US console it will boot out of region backups as well. Google mechapwn, or search the forum.

PS2 backups will load automatically with mechapwn. If it's a PAL/Asian model you will have to use uLE/wLE for loading out of region PS2 backups (run uLE, go to MISC then LOAD PS2 DISC).

Other option, for PS2 backups, is ESR patching the ISOs before burning them.

hi rashan what about playing iso and bin files on a usb hard drive through a ps2 slim pal machine playing the backup method with discs i have seen some videos on youtube about blocking the sensors i dont really want to be doing that or PS2 backups, is ESR patching the ISOs before burning them the what if i put the iso and bin files on a usb external hard drive could i play the ps2 and ps1 games that way
also i have heard of pop starter and there is a page on this site and i think you turn the ps1 bin files to vcd and then put then on a hard drive my usb external hard drive is exfat format i do have the bin files which i can turn to vcd and i do have iso files could i play them on a ps2 slim console

What you've seen on youtube, with blocking the sensor, is called "disc swap". Mechapwn just lets you play backup cds & dvds like normal.
Same thing with ESR, it just boots the discs with no additional work.

As for booting games from USB, you're right, there's POPStarter for PSX games and OPL for PS2 games.
Playing PS2 games from USB can often be a bit painful, as the loading times are even longer than from disc and FMVs will almost always lag and might even freeze.
However, you should read the forums/threads I linked too and read the instructions and tutorials there.

Also, you'll need this for exfat: https://www.psx-place.com/resources/bdmassault.1393/
