PS3HEN PS3HEN - Official Release Thread (Homebrew Enabler for the PS3) v3.5.0 (4.93 support)

Now a stupid question maybe:

Is there or there will be a way to play our original PS2 discs, inserting them into bd reader? I mean without having to rip the ISO and converting to ISO.BIN.ENC and stuff like this?

In other words, will PS3HEN in some future enable nonFAT PS3 to read ps2 games? Like it was possible with very first ps3 models... something like reintroduce the software ability of reading iso (that maybe are already encoded) from the optical drive and redirect output to emulator directly, streaming the disc contents.

I would like to know from devs (@aldostools @DeViL303 @ShaolinAssassin @Joonie @pink1 , and maybe others but now i remember these nicks) if this is possible at least theoretically, or, if there are obstacles, which are them; i think that this would take a lot of time to implement, but it's at least feasible.

That would be a very very big deal, because i have tons of PS2 original game discs that i would like to play (with my old save data) but i'm too lazy to rip them all.

i have Han toolbox on PS3 HEN 2.2.2 and now can I install HEN Toolbox 1.00 on PS3 HEN 2.2.2? Does both toolbox work same time?

No, until a new exploit is found that let poke LV1 and a way to install CFW is found.

Only fat models have full PS2 emulation. Then Sony realised that they could save money removing that hardware and sell us our PS2 games again but in digital format. So, in later models (slims & superslims) the PS2 is software emulated and USB/disc access was removed from the PS2 emulator.

As PS2 emulator requires a lot of memory, Sony implemented the emulator as a lv2 kernel replacement. When you load a PS2 game the system reboots into the PS2 emulator kernel and the HEN payload is lost.

In Cobra it works because the FW is patched to execute unsigned SELF and the emulator itself is patched to load the decrypted ISO from hdd0.

Hi guys, I want to make a setup from scratch on my console, do I need hfw? I need your ideas, I'll follow this path.1-ofw install 2-han install 3-han enable and install hen 2.2.2 pkg

Will I follow this path?
thanx

Yes, but 1 is incorrect you need to get HFW not OFW and also it is recommend to update 2 times but not needed ;)

1. Install OFW to latest version.
2. Install HFW as well.
3. Go to http://**ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new)/
4. Then, go to PS3 HEN> HEN Auto Installer (or just go to this link here: http://**ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new)/hen/installer/hdd/)
5. Reboot the console and you will see the egg logo on the coldboot.

PS: HAN installation is no longer needed.

Unfortunately, this Android guide is not a viable method for me (my cell phone is not rooted). Anyway I managed to do the update for version 2.2.2 through method 3 of the PS3HEN minitutorial and everything is working well. Thank you for your attention, atreyu187.

If you need to host a file on your phone in the future use the application.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.ubi.common.http.server&hl=pt_BR

It works as well as the application mentioned in the post and does not require root. Just point the path of your HTML in the settings and start the server. Works great for me, you can try also.
