Please help me figuring out what's wrong with my console. (Trophy/debug/RSoD?)

Thanks kozarovv, will try it as soon as MEGA lets me download it ('Temporary error') :)

bguerville, I installed 4.80 once more via Recovery and this is what I got:

ROS0 Hash = MD5 Hash: 4853885368E6A601BF11945EE5E3F944
ROS1 Hash = MD5 Hash: 4853885368E6A601BF11945EE5E3F944
Data Match Check = vtrm0, vtrm1 failed

So it's the same as before doing all of that downgrade stuff.

I tried it another time and these were my exact steps:

- Started on 4.80.1 Rebug -
-> Downgraded via Recovery to CFW 3.55 with Rebug Downgrader 3.55.4
-> OFW 3.55 installed twice via Recovery
-> Went into Service Mode with E3 Card Reader
-> Since OFW gives out an error, I installed Ferrox 3.55 No-BD via Service Mode
-> Installed OFW 3.55 twice via XMB just for fun
-> Installed Rebug 4.70.1 twice via XMB (gonna try that RSoD fix later)

Results:
ROS0 Hash = MD5 Hash: BBA12DA7C6CDA7FFA0FF37D6BE518ABD
ROS1 Hash = MD5 Hash: BBA12DA7C6CDA7FFA0FF37D6BE518ABD
Data Match Check = vtrm0, vtrm1 failed

Same result as before.

Results are coherent yet the error remains. TBH I didn't really expect a second run to fix what the first did not anyway, am sure you had little hope yourself. Had to try.. [emoji22]

Yep try that rsod pkg & let us know what the outcome is.

If you don't get anywhere with it though, an experienced downgrader may have some insights to share with us?
@baileyscream maybe?

Doesn't matter anyhow he has the 2500 model. They work just fine even with a totally borked/removed BD drive.

So why his 250X can't install 3.55 OFW from FSM, only no-bd work? BTW. Maybe is time to check that rsod is occurring when fw with no rsod bypass is installed?

FYI @PSX_Koto ROS errors are normal in this case. Don't worry about them. Data Match Check = vtrm0, vtrm1 failed is problem and this error is related to trophies on PS3. For sure this is causing error, for sure there is a way to figure out that can be fixed or not.

Put usb drive in to most right usb port, run install that pkg from my link. Run installed app (can be on that 4.70 rex you installed).

After that log file on usb will be created.
- RSoD Error: ffffffff80010505 = cvtrm error Not corrected
- RSoD Error: 0 = cvtrm is error free

If you will see first option then your nor is defected. But still you can look at hex of your dump to check what exactly is wrong. Files of course not gonna be same as here but maybe you will find something useful: http://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Flash:cvtrm

Second mean that vtrm is fixed.

There is probably nothing more we can do for you.

Can you message me your dump and I will replace your VTRM areas

Just don't change firmware or install anything once you make me a dump
Wait until you flash the repaired one I send you back

Whew this thread kinda blew up, thanks everyone for your help so far - you guys rock :)

I just ran the rsod fix and here's the log:
rsod_fix.log said:
VTRM init: 0

PS3 Dump Checker bad data after fix:
ROS0 Hash
ROS1 Hash
cvrm1 Header
vtrm1 Magic
ctrm Reserved Entries

Is this any better? Data Match Check now valid though, apparently

Welp now I already ran the rsod fix, dump sent to @baileyscream anyway :)

Dunno mine runs and installs FW just fine when my BD drive is removed. Glad to see he will be getting this all sorted though.

only one of your vtrm areas is blank
i thought both were.
ok while i'm going through this can you go back onto 3.55
use the downgrader then go into recovery and install 3.55 ofw twice for me

now go into fsm
use this to exit fsm Exit_FactoryServiceMode_Lv2diag_RSOD <<click to download
re-dump
validate in PS3DumpChecker << click to download
this should have activated the call in the firmware to re-write the vtrm area not patch it like the rsod fix.pkg's do to ignore the error

however if this has not fixed it then stay on 3.55 and send me this dump

-------------------------------------------------------------
just to explain
when you tried to install 3.55ofw in fsm and it gave an error it was due to your bdvd drive having a newer firmware installed on the drive than the drive firmware that was trying to be installed from the ps3updat.pup (3.55ofw)
this is why nocheck or nobd firmware worked as these do not install drive firmware
--------------------------------------------------------------

sorry i'm thinking you have a flasher
install rogero 3.55 v3.7 then multiman to dump
i'm uploading rogero now for you

nope only have the e3 card reader not the e3 flasher. thanks a lot, I've been looking for this firmware :)

I downgraded and installed 3.55ofw twice, so just install rogero on top and then run the lv2diag?

install rogero 3.55 v3.7 << click to download
then trigger fsm with your e3 card reader
make sure it boots to the xmb with the red box that says factory service mode
then put the exit lv2diag on usb and exit fsm
boot console
install multiman
dump your console

After installing multiMan 04.80.00 and accepting the last page of the licence agreement my console suddenly shut down, but I could get into mM's menu after a reboot with no problems.

@baileyscream dump sent

OK @PSX_Koto checked the new 3.55 dump you just sent
vtrm areas have been successfully re-wrote
no errors in that dump

next step. to see if your trophy's will work on the latest 4.80cfw or is there more work

I installed one of the psn games that didn't work and now I could get into the game without trophy error, so that's nice. :)

of course further testing needs to be done but I didnt want to wait until I copied over all of those games again. What can I do to prevent this from happening again? Or does it happen randomly? When I fiddled with the console I could get the error away but it came back after a while, and games that worked before would suddenly crash etc...

No real way to tell
It's usually a failing nor chip or it's become corrupt during a firmware update

When you did the RSOD exit fsm the VTRM areas were re wrote so any bad blocks the nor had have now been re-mapped
Assuming it is the nor that was the reason
Which is the most likely cause
