I love how everyone is just shitting on modchips rn, like it isnt the only method rn to boot ps1 backups, sure they have their downsides but they can still be used for a lot of things

Ive never had issues with Intenso cds but oh well

There are over a 100 different modchips made for the system so I wanted to see which one is generally considered the best

Ik this is a dead topic, but looking at it I think its an Apollo-7 clone, which is a slim line modchip, so it checks out. Based on its description, its a good chip, but i unfortunately have no idea how to use it, it being a clone might also mean it has some features removed or bugged.

Coming back to this topic after 2 months, i got new cds and they still had that issue, the drive itself was faulty after all, got it replaced yesterday, consider the issue fixed, thank you everyone for your help. :)

im actually into speedrunning, so i need a ps2 with fd to get the best speeds on ps1 games, since hdd and such are banned. If it wasnt for that i wouldnt even care, i would just play them on ps1.
