PS2 2P controller doesn't work on certain games when playing backups through OPL

Hi, so I softmodded my PS2 the other day and it's been working pretty well. But one problem though; I want to play Co-Op in Tales of the Abyss and it doesn't work.
I've tried several things, like unplugging and replugging the controller, enabling PADEMU and trying to use a PS4 controller, tried to put the number of players on OPLManager, but the result is always the same: the 2P character just stands still and does nothing no matter what I do on the second controller.
And the even weirder thing is, I tried with two other multiplayer games (TMNT Mutant Melee and Burnout 3) and they worked just fine with two players, so what is going on???

For the record, I'm using the MC2SIO to load up ISOs on my PS2 and I'm using a DualShock 2 for both controller ports. The OPL version I'm using is 1.2.0. beta.

I hope someone can help me here, this has been driving me nuts.

Try the stable 1.0.0 version.

So I tried the latest stable version of OPL (which was 1.1.0) but it still didn't work plus now it doesn't recognize my memory card.

I should have probably explained this, but the MC2SIO memory card adapter needs a special version of OPL to work properly, and just like I had heard, you can't save your progress in games. So I think using any other version of OPL is out.

Are there any experts on the MC2SIO out there?
