4.87.1 HFW (Hybrid Firmware)

PS3 4.87.1 HFW (Hybrid Firmware) -

Hi, I am having an error.

procedure i followed
firmwre 4.87
patched throgh ps3xploit
downloaded hfw 4.87.1 https://www.psx-place.com/threads/4-87-1-hfw-hybrid-firmware.31958/
after checking md5
i put it in usb \PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PSP
in PS3 settings > update from usb > it says no applicable data found
in ps3 recovery process (by pressing the power button)
it does starts updating but at 58% it suddenly goes to 100%
and when ps3 reboots i m on sony firmare

Any Help Please

when patch is done what other hfw or cfw i can install.
I mean what other options do i have when ps3 is patched through ps3xploit

regards,
when you say "patched with ps3xploit", doe you mean bgtoolset? or do you mean you installed hen?

if you used bgtoolset, installing ofw or hfw afterwards would cause you to lose jailbreak. you would need to use bgtoolset again and install evilnat or ferrox 4.87 when done.

Thanks,

no installed hen or anything else
by patching i mean that i used bgtoolset and patched (loaded via https)
then i tried to update using usb (tried different usbs, fat32 and 16)
when i try to update using usb it says no applicable update data found on disk
while that disk is visible in ps3 phto and video tabs
when i try to update using ps3 recovery
the same usb is found and it shows exploitable hfw that is on usb
it starts updating
but there is some error or what at 58%
when it finishes it gets back to ofw.

so...
now using same bgtoolset
i shall patch and then try installing evilnat or ferrox 4.87

thanks for your help

Does anyone have a working update file, or working mirror? I need to do a clean installation of HFW 4.87.1 and it says "no applicable update data was found".

Here is 4.87.1, if you already downloaded it, you don't need this. The file is the same.
https://mega.nz/file/fAJFwSqL#PeQfhVjbGAi69S4Jr369Tly4trG4Y9ALqdlUIBzW8qk

Put it as PS3UPDAT.PUP in x:/PS3/UPDATE of your USB drive or pendrive. Connect it to the PS3.

Go to Recovery Menu and install it using System Update.

How To Access PlayStation 3 Recovery Mode

To access this mode, follow the below procedure:
  • Turn off your Playstation 3 (the red LED is still turned on).
  • Hold the power button down, to completely turn off your console.
  • Keep holding the power button down until you hear a beep followed by 2 consecutive beeps.
  • You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB.
  • Press the PS button and the Recovery menu will pop up.

Thank you so much. Installation via recovery mode helped and I used the original update file, which did not work before. :encouragement:

Hi, can anyone help me? I've got a CECH-30xx Slim PS3 on 4.87 firmware (updated about a week ago), and today I'm trying to install the 4.87.1 HFW, but it always tells me that there's no applicable update on my USB drive.

The steps I took are the following:

1) Downloaded the HFW using the MEGA link on the very beggining of this thread;
2) Unzipped it on my FAT32-formatted USB drive on "\PS3\UPDATE";
3) Checked the file's MD5 hash (it verified OK);
4) Renamed the file from "HFW_4.87.1_PS3UPDAT.PUP" to "PS3UPDAT.PUP";
5) Plugged the USB drive on my PS3 and tried to run the update by going to Settings > System Update > Update via Storage Media (it tells me that "No applicable update data was found";
6) Turned off the PS3, and went into the recovery menu by holding the power button until it beeped 1 time, followed by 2 beeps;
7) Went to option "6. System Update";
8) Pressed START + SELECT;
9) After a few seconds waiting, the PS3 also returned the message telling me that "No applicable update data was found."
10) Tried to redownload the file and went through all the previous steps again, with the exact same results;
11) Gave up and came back here to ask for help.

Make sure the FAT32 drive is partitioned as MBR and not GPT. If you can see the USB drive detected under Photo, Music & Video columns on the XMB, then it is correctly formatted. Since you've to update via the recovery menu also, to no avail, I would suspect this is the issue - GPT partitioned drives are not detectable by the PS3. It may also be worth trying a different USB drive, if this is not the issue. Hope this helps :)

Yeap, just confirmed it was GPT-partitioned, converted to MBR, put the files back in and now my PS3 is at this very moment starting the upgrade process with the HFW.

Thank you very much! :love heart:

Where I can download flash 4.87 hex
You really don't need that anymore, There is no flash writer for 4.87, it's obsolete. If you are on 4.87 OFW/HFW and want to install CFW, go to ** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com and use BG Toolset to patch for CFW. It's way safer and better.

This shows how it's done now.

system information will only say "4.87". it will not add ".1" or "HFW".

if it did not give an error, then it probably worked. try installing HEN...if HEN install fails and says "NaN" on the webpage, then you are still on OFW.

Thanks for quick reply. I'm going to work now after long night of trying. I does not remeber what error it was when i'm trying to intall HEN. But doesn't if I successfully install HFW it gonna be a Package manager option on game menu? I still don't have it.

yes. there will be a package manager icon and an "Enable HEN" icon. (correction - i am thinking of hen, not hfw)
