PS3 4.89 Update is Live! - Discussions / Details about the firmware update

Hello guys! Im a new one here, but using PS3 and HEN for long time. Also Im a C++ developer.
I have decided to make a petition at change.org to Sony, EA etc. I know that chances to change something are extremely small, but I will be glad if you would sign/share it and also glad to hear some reasonable critics or changes that i need to add to it.

I like your way of thinking, but nothing will change.

They were sued over OtherOS and lost, but still never brought that feature back.

it is being worked on now, but it will not be released if HFW is not ready by the time that HEN is done.

everybody just wait for official releases please. better safe than sorry.

not angry, just careful. if you had mentioned that other people tested it, i would probably have been more excited about it. i did not delete Louay's link until problems were reported because i thought it was something that would either always work or never.

So how long might this process take? Days, Weeks?

Louay tested his pup on 2 or 3 different ps3. it seemed like a good file but would not install for everyone who tried after he posted it.

i did not mean to offend or doubt you. the fact that his file worked for some people but not for others makes any 4.89 hfw suspect for now. maybe sony changed something so it is best to be careful.

official HEN 3.0.4 does not exist. unofficial builds could easily contain ID stealers and other bad things!
 
Please do not ask for or post links/names/info/tests of unofficial 3.0.4 HEN builds. Those kinds of posts are off-topic and will be edited/deleted.

HEN mods are always welcome (i have 2 simple ones i released here), but you can not mod something that has not been released yet. These pre-official builds are not contributing to the development of HEN. They are used to get views on youtube to make money (among other things). If you want to support PS3Xploit Team, other contributing developers, and testers, just wait--that is all that you have to do. (Although a donation wouldn't hurt...)

Is anyone else having bugs in 4.89?

I've received some reports that some things are out of place at 480p, it looks like the layout texts have been changed for displaying the qr codes.

Also, we can't transfer psp games from ps3 to psp, it nows gives an error.

Edit: RCO mods are also displayed out of place and larger than they should even on FHD

All unofficial 4.89 HFW are having this issue and unofficial HENs cannot install unsigned packages for some reason.

It may be caused by the other sprx files that has been replaced with older ones, you can try to restore those sprx and see if it gets fixed.

Those files will be included in the official HEN pkg to restore them and avoid issues, so wait for the official release.

Edit: These are the files that must be restored back
  • autodownload_plugin.sprx
  • avc_plugin.sprx
  • gameupdate_plugin.sprx
  • nas_plugin.sprx
  • newstore_plugin.sprx
  • silk_webkit.sprx

when the old webkit sprx is placed into a new update, other files are replaced. (they are all in a tar file.) so before HEN is installed, HFW may have some old files compared to same version OFW. this may be the source of some problems.

@esc0rtd3w is sorting out which files are needed for the HEN pkg. this is why we wait for official releases. :)

Can you get online with it? And have you had any issues with PS3 system?

I'm tempted to try it on my CeX 4202C console but don't want to put 4.89.2 and have PS3 xploits release there's as 4.89.1 cause then my PS3 won't recognise there firmware as newer version would it?

It's still possible to go online with HFW 4.88 and HEN if you have webman mod install. All you need copy ps3-updatelist.txt to /dev_hdd0/ and reboot. Only thing, from now you will need a laptop to sign into your psn a/c to obtain a Device password. So make sure you saved the password to your ps3 so you don't have to keep repeating the process.
